Maggie the Magnolia

Maggie saw a little girl
resting at her knee.
So little was she
that she was hard to see.

"I think my Daddy's mad at me
and my Mommy is too...
He wanted me to do something
I didn't want to do."

"He said to say I'm sorry
I shouted at my mommy,
that I couldn't ride my bike
'less I saw what I can't see."

Maggie hugged that little girl
the best that she could do
for she was only a tree
and a talking tree too.

"Little girl, you have to know
your Daddy loves you dearly.
He heard you shout at Mommy
and that's not the way to be".

"You must understand
that there's lots of things they see.
They don't want you hurt
if you ride where you can't be."

The little girl looked up,
to see a lovely tree
become a wise old woman
with flowers everywhere.

She hugged Maggie tightly
and said, "I know what I will do.
I want to give my mommy this,
and tell her I'm sorry too."

Maggie gave her a Magnolia bloom
and sent her on her way.
The little girl was happy now
and rode where she could play.
