I am planning on buying a canary just as a pet. I have found someone in my area that has colorbreds. Can someone tell me about this type of bird and do they make good singers. What does the average price for a pet cost or does this depend on the color?
Does the price also depend on the age and or sex of the bird? I prefer not to buy from a pet store so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi first time to do this just getting an idea how to look up things on the web. I raise colorbreds and a few glosters(3-4)this year. Mainly have about 20 gold ivory and intensive yellows and have been a consistant winner in our local club.
I am a board member of The Columbia Canary Club in Oregon. This year I raised 50 babies with 10 pairs and was very happy with results as it is the first time I have gotten such a large hatch of the gold ivory. Feel free to write me if anyone wants to as
