Lili's update: |
|
Hello friends, family, Up With People cast mates and host families. It took me too long to sit down and prepare this little update for you, so today (a Mexican holiday) I decided it was the perfect time. So most of you must know Lili got married. Our wedding on December 15th, 2000 was the most beautiful event (well, what can I say? But it was.), and our honeymoon to Ixtapa (Mexican beach) and 6 cities in Italy was also a wonderful experience. But starting a life together definitely wins the prize. |

We live in a very nice and greatly located apartment in Monterrey,
and I must say, after over 1 year of being a housewife, I'm enjoying it
immensely! Toño and I complement each other very well, and have found so
many great things about life together and new, very nice things about one
another! On my side, I'm proud to say that not a lot of girls are lucky
enough to find a husband who likes cooking, who doesn't mind helping with
the dishes, sweeping and mopping or ironing his own shirt, who's into fixing
anything that needs fixing around the house and of course who's cute and
very hardworking… all in the same package. We also enjoy the same things,
like camping, fishing and travelling. So yeah, I'm a very happy housewife. |
And speaking about travelling, 2001 was also
a year of trips for me. Besides our honeymoon and several trips to South
Padre Island, TX where my parents own a very pretty apartment by the beach,
I had the chance of traveling to several new places. On August I enrolled
in the Adult week of a summer ice skating training camp at Lake Arrowhead,
CA. Wonderful place and a great experience to see Michelle Kwan, Sasha Cohen, Surya Bonaly, Alexander Abt, Anthony Liu and Angela Nikodinov skate and even take lessons from some of them! |

The 2001 Employee Relocation Council's Global Workforce Symposium took me back to California on October, but this time to Anaheim. This was the first time I attended this event by myself, but felt very confident and I believe my business will get a great benefit out of my participation in it. Already I've been invited to join the planning committee for this year's Symposium! And the last quarter of the year was highlighted by a great training contract I got, which included delivering a couple of seminars at Torreón (my husband's hometown), Mexico City and… Puerto Rico! Traveling is great, but it so much greater when your traveling costs are covered by someone else! I had a whole free weekend to spend at wonderful San Juan and definitely took advantage of it! |
So as you can see, my business is also doing
real well, thank God. Aside from that great contract, I had a couple of
other training assignments on which my sister Maria Elena was of great help,
and also plenty of relocation assistance assignments both locally and to
other parts of the country (Mexico City, Guadalajara and Querétaro). And
I'm very confident this year such an ascending amount of work will continue. Another big event this past year was that I finished my master's degree in Communications, writing my thesis about Intercultural Skills Development. |

. The day I received my diploma on May, I left my resume at the University's Communication Department, applying to teach the intercultural communication course. I got hired and taught that course for the August - December semester. That was a wonderful experience too, and made me gain both experience and confidence in my intercultural communications knowledge and expertise. As for visits, we had the chance to host a very nice priest from Guerrero for an international symposium that was held here in Monterrey in November. And these past days Claudia Salim came to spend a few days, which were very enjoyable too. |
Toño and I are not planning to have babies yet, but we are enjoying all the babies around us: 2 nieces, 1 nephew and 3 goddaughters. And of course, our not-so-baby-anymore baby, Didi, my 12 year old poodle dog who's completely in love with Toño and seems to be enjoying her new life too. Life keeps being too generous to me and my family, and I'll never be able to thank God enough for all the blessings, great opportunities and wonderful experiences he keeps giving us all. Receive my best wishes for a marvelous year and remember our home is always open to receive our loved ones. |
