This page will be monitoring the set-up and progress of my 40 Gallon Mini-Reef. I will be using the Jaubert method with my 40 gallon cube aquarium which requires a plenum beneath a thick layer of aragonite substrate which is seeded with live sand. According to the notes I have acquired for setting up this type of reef, no external filtration is needed. I eventually will add a protein skimmer to the tank, although it is not necessary, I will still be adding one along with a several powerheads to prevent "dead spots" in the tank and to provide a nice current for the corals I plan to keep. This tank hasn't even been assembled yet but will be up very soon, so please come back and visit me to see the photos of my latest project.
