i have always loved being french. when i was young, my father Hector Dugas would not teach us his native language because school kids had ridiculed his "accent". I was very surprised to find such a site about the Saulnier's. A lot of those names sound familiar but in those days, they used Joseph and Mary a lot. Most of the people started using their middle names as did my father. His name was Joseph Gerard Saul ier. They called him Gerard a Ben a Emilier. He died at the age of 44 in 1977. I would really like to see more of the more recent ancestors on the tree... more in the 1900's. (I don't know too many of the ones born in the 1700's) Anyway, nice to see t is site and I will visit often. I'm checking with my family to see if anyone has started working on our family tree. Looks great. I live in the village of Abram's River. My Grandmother, Surname Moulaison, in or near 1910 went to New York City to help her sister who had just had a baby met my Grandfather Franck who was a native of Saulnierville N.S. was living in t e same building. He was going out with a blond at the time, and once their eyes met the blond was history, or so the story goes, within three or four months they were married and their first child was born there. They then moved back & settled in Abram's iver. Our Saulnier goes back to Louis.

My father was Edmond Landry, his father Cyprien Landry. Cyprien and wife Almina and the 12 children moved from Brusly St. Martin LA in 1915 to Lakeland and in 1927 to LaBarre new Morganza Louisiana where they died. Grandpa Cyprien's (Nunc Pi-'en)mother as a LeBlanc and I believe his step father was named Joseph who died in 1941 in or near Brusly St. Martin. My father spoke of his ancestor coming from France by ship to Baton Rouge and settled along Bayoy Lafourche.

One of his great-great-great (etc) grandfathers, Jean Andre Martin, b. 09/01/1770 in St Martinville, married Catherine Gertrude Saulnier, b.abt 1770, daughter of Sylvain Saulnier and Madeleine Bourg, on 06/09/1795 in Opelousas. I have had much success, thanks in part to the Family Tree Maker, in researching most of my husband's family except for his paternal grandfather's family. I have not visited the local library yet, but will as soon as my children are back in s hool. Do you have any knowledge of the Gerasin Menard family of Acadia or Vermilion Parish in the late 1800s? They had a son Felix, b. abt 1879 in Vermilion Parish. Felix Menard was my husband's great-grandfather. Do you need any information on the Martin family? Just wanted to let all of you know that I haven't forgotten you! Life has been a little busy lately. My niece, Karen, got married June 20th (the first of her generation in our immediate family to do so) and the wedding was wonderful. She was, of course, a beautiful bride (Do you think her aunt/godmother is being prejud ced - I'm not!) and her new husband is just a wonderful man. I'm so happy for her! I'll try to get some of the wedding photos online soon. We're still looking for a house, with all the ups and downs that entails. I know there is a house out there just waiting for us, and we'll find it when it's meant to happen. The computer is still a little screwy. Luckily, my husband has his computer now, so when this one gets too awful, I can "borrow" his. Unfortunately, I'm not set up for the genealogy and web site on it. I'm going to try a new mouse, and see if that allevia es the worst problem. And, speaking of David, we are on vacation for the month of July. No, we're probably not traveling much, although we may make it to Maine for a few days to see my sister's new house. Hi People! Just wanted to keep you all up to date on the computer situation. I am now back on line (kind of). I brought my old faithful Dell 316SX out of mothballs once again, so I can receive and reply to e-mail v-e-r-y s-l-o-w-l-y! Please don't send any large files until you've contacted me first. This machine only has a 40MB HD and I'm pretty well maxxed out. Whe I got back on line I had 56 messages waiting for me, so be patient as I get back to you. The bad new is that all my genealogical files are on he machine that's in the shop, but I'll research your questions just as soon as I can.
