 Williams Second Generation
 Charles2 (?Roger1) was b. c1740s; d. bef
Oct 1805, prob Pittsylvania Co.,
 VA. There is no
definitive proof that he was a child of Roger Williams.
 However, there
is also no evidence refuting this supposition. (See above
explanation for placing Charles in Roger's family.) Charles
m. (1) Ann

VA and with Peter Wilson as surety for both marriages.
According to the
history of Pittsylvania Co., Charles served in the military
during the
Revolution. Charles left a will written 29 Jan 1801 that was
probated in
 Pittsylvania Co.
in Oct 1805. There is a Salley Williams in
Pittsylvania,
1820, and gone by 1830. The household appeared as
10000-00111. This may be
Charles' widow. She lived on or near the

Charles, b. c1776, d. after Oct 1805. He is prob the 1820 Pittsylvania

as 120101-2001. He is gone by 1830.
 Susannah, b.
c1778; d. after Oct 1805; m. John Crouch,
Bedford Co., VA; consent of her father, Charles, given. They
were m. by
Rev. Thomas Sparks, with William Astin as
surety. Nothing further is known
of the Crouches. The John in 1810 and the two Johns in 1820,
Bedford Co.,
appear to be too young to be this couple.
 Roger2 (Roger1)
was b. Feb 1749, Cumberland Co. VA; d.
Bedford Co., VA; m. Cassie Ann Blair on
 Cassie Ann was
b. 1750-1760; d. aft 1835, surviving Roger. Descendants
have reported that Roger's death date is taken from a
gravestone in a
private cemetery, place not stated. However, the date does
correspond with
the probating of Roger's will. Roger applied for a Rev. War
pension, but
his application was rejected. Rogers sons, Sam Allen and
George W., the

clearly names Susannah Williams as an heir. Various Williams family
members kept in touch with each other as they moved
westward. It does not
seem likely that Roger wouldn't have known that his daughter
had died when
ten years passed between the probate of Charles' will and
that of Roger.
 It now appears
that Charles and Susannah separated and/or divorced. Her
whereabouts are unknown, but it appears that Susannah was
very much alive
 in August 1835.

 Samuel2
(Thomas1) was b.
 William Ligon,
 Wright, bef
sold part of the land which he owned before death; d. 1823,
when his will
was probated in Cumberland Co. In 1820, Cumberland Co.,
Samuel's household
 consisted of 000001-00011.
 Children:

dau of Samuel and Anne Burwell

 Samuel was b.
 1803, Amelia Co., VA.
 Polly, m. Mr.
Love; nothing further is known of this couple. If Polly is
the younger female in Samuel's household in 1820, then she
apparently m.
 Mr. Love after 1820.
 Benjamin, b.
c1785, d. bef

 Robert, b.
 Manley, b.
 Rev War
pensioner Ancel and Sarah Butler Manley.
 Joseph, b.
 Woodson,
1863, prob Howard Co., MO;. There is a
Joseph Williams in Cumberland Co.,
 m. Elizabeth Harrison,
man who m. Susan Woodson. The Ligon
Family also states he m.
 Raine, no date
or place given. Since Susan appears to be 10 years younger
than Joseph, it is reasonable to conclude he may have had a
prior
marriage.

 Matthias2
(Matthias1) was b.
1840 census, prob in Morgan Co., TN; m. Sarah Butler, dau of Aaron Butler,
c1776, prob in Cumberland Co. In
the spring of 1776, Matthias (Jr. or
Sr.?) sold a tract of land with
Aaron Butler in Cumberland Co. In the fall
of 1776, Aarons will was written and probated in Cumberland
Co. with
Matthias
Williams as a witness and Aarons dau, Sarah
Williams, named as
an heir. It is possible that Aaron Butler's wife was
Susannah Williams.
 Aaron Butler was
b. c1725 and d. 177, Cumberland Co., VA. This Susannah
may have been a sister of Thomas (b. 1712)and Matthias Sr.
and the land
transaction of 1776 may have involved Matthias Sr. More
research needs to
be done on. Matthias Jr. was a Rev. War pensioner.
Children:
Susannah, b. c1778; m. John Landrum,
marriage record identifies Susannah as the dau of Matthias. A John Landrum
appears in Anderson Co., TN court records from 1814-1819. It
is not known
if this is the same man. Other Landrums,
but not John, can be found in the
1830 census.
?Child, b. c1780. The 1782 and 1784 tax lists of white souls
include
enough people to account for two parents and 3 and 4
children,
respectively. However, this child is speculation - there may
have been
another family member living with them at the time.
Polly, b. c1782;
d. c1844, porb Pittsylvania Co., where there is an
estate
administration for Pleasant and Polly from 1842-1845; m.
Pleasant Mahone,
dau of Matthias.
Thomas, b.
c1784; left a will that was probated in Roane Co., TN on 18
July 1814; m. Charlotte Rector, dau of
Martin, c1809.
Matthias, b.
c1789, VA; d. after 1860; m. Sally Rector, dau of
Martin
Rector.
John, b. c1791;
d. by Oct 1815, when the administration of his estate was
noted in Roane Co. court records. When Thomas Williams, (iii., above)
named his executors, he named Matthias Sr. and John. It is
assumed that he
named his father and brother. Chancery Court records for
Matthias
Williams administrator of the estate of John Williams, deceased.
If John was
married, there is no record to indicate the identity of spouse
or children.
?Martha, b. October 1797, VA; d.
Shoemaker,
?William H., b.
poss Sarah Elizabeth Patterson.
Keziah2
(Matthias1) was b. c1760; m. Henry DeShazer,
Cumberland Co.,
VA. Little is known about this couple. Henry's father has
never been identified, although he named a son Abraham and
an Abraham is
found on a tax list in Cumberland Co. in 1784. In 1810,
Henry was living
in Buckingham Co., VA. The household configuration at that
time was one
male over 45 (Henry), one male 16-26, 2 males under 10, one
female 16-26,
and one female under 10. It appears that Keziah
d. before 1810. Since she
was b. c1760, it also appears that she might not be the
mother of all
three children under 10. By 1820, there was one male over
45, 2 males
10-16, 2 males
under 10, a female 26-45, one female 16-26 and one female
10-16. Henry
appears to have married at least one more time. Henry's Rev.
War pension
application gives most of the information known about this
man. About 1817, Henry left VA for KY, first settling in
Lincoln Co. and
then, before 1830, in Mercer Co. It is doubtful whether Keziah is the
mother of any of the younger children listed in the 1810
census. Children
who most likely are not Keziah's
include William, b. c1808, VA; m. (1)
 Rebecca Cloyd,
 Mercer Co., KY;
Jane, b. c1810; m. (1) John Cloyd,

 1811, VA; d.

1843, in Mercer Co., KY, where his estate was adminstered.
Heirs included
spouse Elizabeth and the following children: Abraham, John
W., Nancy Ann,
 William, Jane, Jesse and James.
husband, as her estate sale was recorded in Jan 1845, Mercer
Co., KY.
Permelia may have been a dau of Keziah, but William, Jane, Jesse and James
 were almost certainly not Keziah's
children. Even if Permelia was a dau
of
Keziah, she predeceased her father, Henry, and, as no
Hazelwood heirs were
listed in her right, it appears that she left no children
who lived to
 inherit from their grandfather.
 Children: (DeShazer)
 Abraham (Is he
the male, b. c1784-94; d. aft Aug 1843, as he was an heir
of his father. Apparently not in Henry's household in 1820.
 Nancy Ann, b.
c1789; m. Richard Holt,
bond states she is the dau of
Henry Deshazer.
 Female, b. c1784-94; d. aft 1810, but before August 1843.
(Is this
Permelia, below, or is this another dau
who died young?)
 John W., b.
c1793, Amelia Co., VA; d.
 aged 69 years; m. Sally A. Middleton,
 bondsman John
Middleton. Parents named on death record as Henry and K.
 DeShazer.
Sally was b. c1800, Charlotte Co., VA and survived him.
 Permelia, b. 1794-1804; d. bef
Aug 1843; m. John Hazelwood,
Lincoln Co., KY; Henry giving consent. Permelia
may not be a dau of
Keziah.
 John2
(Matthias1) was b.
Rev. War pension application. However, like brother Matthias
and
 brother-in-law Henry DeShazer,
John gave no family information in his
record. In looking at the 1830, 1840 and 1850 censuses, it
appears that
 John m. (1) Unknown (2)
 is also possible that
likely that John married and had a family pre-1800, but left
no paper
 evidence as to their identities.
 Children:
 ?John, b. c1791, VA; d. after 1860; m. (1) Elizabeth Duncan,
b. c1790; d.
 1852. (2) Amy
Harbin Crenshaw, mother of his daughter-in-law, Eliza Jane
Crenshaw. However, it also appears that John had at least
two illegitimate
 children, one daughter by Joasy
Farmer and a son by Aza Morgan.
 ?
 Humphrey was b.
c1791, VA. Benjamin Thacker lived next door to John
Williams in 1830, so it is poss that this
 William2 (Matthias1)
kept a Bible record naming his family. He m. Judith

Judith survived him and was living in Marion Co. in 1850
