Often patients report a reduction in, or absence of libido (another thing that often leads to interpersonal relationship problems). Impotence is widely reported in male Cushing's patients. It seems that women may be slightly less affected.
Most women report menstrual irregularities, amenorrhea (absense of menstrual periods), and infertility. These changes are sometimes attributed to other conditions such as menopause or polycystic ovaries, which can delay correct diagnosis. Simple hormone testing can rule out menopause (FSH and LH ratios), and at the same time may also point to the presence of a pituitary tumor.
