At five years of age as of Jan/99, Mica has finally matured to his best yet!
Mica was a consistent group placer/winner and has been the Best Sire (and Get) at a number of Specialties. His biggest win was being the #4 Lab in Canada in 1996 - without even trying! To date Mica has produced 10 conformation champions and has 1 more pointed offspring to finish in 1999! He and his kids will also be seen in the obedience ring in '99 - a testament to the versatility of his get.
Mica is currently training for obedience and loving every minute of it (if the leaping at the front door while I put on my coat is any indication) and should be ready for competition later in the spring. Can. Ch. SNOWYRIVER'S MAGIC SHOW We would be interested in a co-ownership on Magic - as having three stud dogs in the house could get to be somewhat crowded! And with two more coming up through the ranks - crowded would be an under-statement! Pedigree to come. Our future is looking bright with the opportunity to include Snowyriver's Vantasy (a Mica son - whose face greets you on our home page - as well as at least one chocolate boy from upcoming breedings.
While no longer active at stud, Ruler is by no means forgotten. A back injury in 1995, while training for his UD, left him unable to be used at stud, but his health is holding and his back is greatly improved. We will not, however, be taking chances with any more obedience training. During his show career, Ruler was three times in the Top 5 Labs in Canada - #2 in 1993 and #3 in 1992 and 1994 with only a partial year's showing in each year. He was twice the Edmonton Kennel Club Conformation Dog of the Year and was the Obedience Dog of theYear in one of those years with earning a HIC, a 2nd and two 3rds while competing for his CDX. Our best moment was probably the day he went Group 1st - then we raced from the breed ring to the obedience ring (with just three sits on the way as warm up) to place HIC in CDX - no mean feat for either of us!
