The most common American breeds of pigs are the American Landrace, Berkshire, Chester White, Duroc, Hampshire, Poland China, Spotted Swine and Yorkshire. Most of these breeds were developed in the US except the Berkshire and Yorkshire. Also very popular are potbellied pigs, raised as house pets. In Europe, other notable breeds are the Large White, Pietrain and the Landrace. The Landrace is very common and most countries of Europe have their own breed. Wild hogs and Wart hogs live in many forests and jungles all over the world.
