1. Aloys died 30 Jul 1912, Tsomo, Transkei, buried: 1 Aug 1912, St Marks Cemetery, Tembuland, Transkei.

Aloys Muller was only four years old when he came out to South Africa under the British Immigration Scheme of 1858, aboard the "La Rochelle," with his parents, brothers and sister.

According to prevailing conditions relating to the immigration scheme, the family was allotted 35 acres of virgin ground near Ohlsen in the Stutterheim district, with a view to commence farming. After five years of hardship, his mother died, followed two years later by his father, leaving him an orphan at the tender age of eleven, to be brought up by the rest of the family.

After his marriage to Maria Anna Cornelia LINK, the couple lived at Hohita in the St. Marks district of Tembuland, where their four oldest children were born. Following the birth of their son Julius Alios Jnr., in 1881, the family moved to Sterkstroom where their other children were born.

Aloys operated a bakery for several years in Sterkstroom. He also started his sons William, Ernest, Julius and Theodore in a business in Sterkstrrom.

He later returned to the St. Marks district and took up a lease on certain trading stations at Southeyville.

He died at his sons residence in Tsomo and is buried at the St. Marks cemetery.

The inscription on his headstone reads: In sacred memory of our dear father Julius Alois MÜLLER born at Aldheim, Baden, Germany January 8th 1854. Died at Tsomo, July 30th 1912, Aged 58 years 6 months and 22 days. The Lord gave The Lord hath taken away, Blessed be the name of the Lord.

The family immigrated to South Africa in 1858 under the British Immigration Scheme to British Kaffraria. Boarding the "La Rochelle" at Hamburg and sailing for South Africa on the 31 May 1858, arriving at East London on the 28 August 1858 and the family took up their allotted 35 acres of land at Ohlsen, near Stutterheim, in the eastern Cape.
