"Afternoon Delight"

a little about me....

I'm was born under the sign of The Bull which is Taurus, and that, combined with a German/Dutch ancestry means BEWARE!!! I was raised on a farm outside a small rural town with my older sister, an older brother, and my twin brother. We had wonderful parents who loved us and we never lacked for anything important! I'm a 52-year-old woman from eastern South Dakota. I'm 5'7", a green-eyed spitfire with a stubborness that drives my family crazy! I have auburn hair ....could be that's where my temper comes from?? I am actually quite slow to anger..but when I am mad, you will know it! I have a big old tender heart... I can cry at the drop of a hat, and often do.

If a person's only interest in me is my looks or in the outer package, I label them as shallow and I really don't need a friendship based on that!! There is so much more to a person than their looks!! I truly believe there are no UGLY people in this world...only UGLY personalities...and there are a lot of those out there!!! Beauty comes from within and there, I hope, is where you'll find my beauty!!

I was sent the following in an email and I thought it so beautiful and so appropo
that I am placing it here on my homepage!

The little child whispered,"God, speak to me"
And a meadowlark sang. But the child did not hear.

So the child yelled, "God, speak to me!"
And the thunder rolled across the sky; But the child did not listen.

The child looked around and said, "God let me see you"
And a star shone brightly; But the child did not notice.

And the child shouted, "God show me a miracle!"
And a life was born; But the child did not know.

So the child cried out in despair, "Touch me God, and let me know you are here!"
Whereupon God reached down touched the child. But the child brushed the butterfly away. And walked away unknowingly.

Often times, the things we seek are right underneath our noses.
Don't miss out on your blessing because it isn't packaged the way that you expect!

My job...

I'm a senior secretary at a state university. I've been here for 20 years and will probably be there until they carry me away on a stretcher! I do love my job, although I also love to bitch about it .. the students are great and the faculty can be when they want to be! Being a one lady office keeps me on my toes....

In my spare time, I like to work on my new yard... wish someone would have told me how much work landscaping and gardening is!!!

My family...

I'm married and have been for almost 33years. I'm a weekend wife for the most part as my hubby is a trucker and is gone most of each week. I have three grown children--two boys and a girl. I also have a granddaughter who is the apple of my eye but I don't get to spoil her nearly enough as she lives 14 hours away from me!

My hobbies...

Other than chatting of course, my hobbies include light reading (romance/mystery novels mainly)and being a "couch potato" sports fan (football is a favorite...GO RAMS)! I'm also a great fan of NASCAR Winston Cup Racing. My favorite drivers are Jeff Gordon and Jimmie Johnson, but I do appreciate all the good drivers that are out there.

My latest kick is golfing! I love spending time on our 9-hole course and tipping a few beers! Plus, it's rather fun knocking balls around ya know! Occasionally I also substitute on a dart team .. more beer drinking you know!!!

I love most types of music with the exception of rap and heavy metal, but country/western and rock and roll oldies are my favorites along with some classical. My passion in movies runs toward a good comedy or action/adventure flick. Give me Harrison Ford, Tom Cruise, Patrick Swayze, Stephen Segal, and Richard Gere any day!!!

I collect musical figurines and music boxes--hint, hint anyone who wants to buy me a birthday (May 17) or Christmas present! My latest thing is birdhouses .. I'm did my new kitchen in my new home in the birdhouse motif!!!

My philosophy in life....

I love life and believe everything we do should be done with the thought that there may be no tomorrow. Live life to the fullest each and every day.. speak what is on your mind and in your heart as truthfully as you can. And when communicating with those you love and care about, expect the same in return from them. You might not always get it, but you know you haven't compromised your own beliefs and your philosophy just may rub off on them a bit!
