She met Charles Lulow on one of her visits to her Grandpa Ray's.  Grandpa Ray had a homestead (ranch) on the Niobrara River south of Rushville, NE.  She was 20 and Charles was 28.  It seems that her grandfather Ray married for the second or third time a widow (Margaret Louis Ebsen Lulow), who happened to be Charlie's mother.  

Initially the newlyweds lived on the homestead with Grandpa Ray and Ma Margaret.  Later Charlie went to work on the Monosett Ranch as a cowboy and the family was soon living on the Ranch.   

One of their daughters spoke with her daughter, Sharon about how Mr. Monosett would buy all of the children two full sets of clothes from the skin out and pajamas every year at Christmas time as a Christmas bonus.   Mr. Monosett also allowed for Charlie and Hattie to have a small plot of land to raise vegetables.  Later Charlie and Hattie moved North of Rushviflle where Charlie rented a small farm.  There he ranched and farmed plus worked for others in the area to support his increasing family.   

According to Sharon, her mother recalls her main playmates were Floyd "Red" and Charlotte.  Her mother and Red were always doing mean things to Charlotte. 

The family moved into Rushville around 1938 when Charlie was working for the WPA.  They bought a city lot with a small house and stable.  They still had the lot when Charlie died.  Two of the children - Glenn and Wanda -  were born in  this house. 

Sharon can remember this house very well and how her Grandpa Charlie had an old 1929 Dodge in the stable for years.
