I am currently researching the DIXONS, PARSONS, and BAKERS beginning in the Cumberland Plateau region of TN to Ashe County, NC to Grayson County, VA.
Cumberland County, TN is where most of my ancestors migrated to, it was formed from the six far corners of White, Morgan, Bledsoe, Rhea, Putnam, and Fentress Counties, in 1856.
Ashe County, NC was formed from Wilkes County in 1799, Watauga County in 1849 and Alleghany County in 1859.
Grayson County, VA was formed from Wythe County in 1793.
Anyone interested in researching in Grayson County, VA or Ashe, Wilkes, Watauga, and Alleghany Counties in NC should visit the website by Jeffrey C. Weaver on the Upper New River Valley, it is excellent and has much on line information: New River Notes
This information has not all been proven and is intended to help others researching the same lines. It will be added too, or deleted as more facts become available. Please e-mail me if you think I can help in your research.
