My great-great-great grandfather was Oswell Day (1802-1868) of Marietta, GA. He was married to Rebecca Barrett (1800- ? ), daughter of James and Elizabeth Barrett. My great-great grandfather was James Day (1835-1878). He was married to Mary Elizabeth Cagle (1832-1896), daughter of Jacob Cagle and Elizabeth Robbins. James Day had two brothers, Manning and Benjamin and a sister, Sally. Mary Elizabeth had a brother, William Cagle. I know nothing but the names of brothers, sisters, parents, etc. James Day fought many battles with the Confederate Army. He was shot in the left side of the face, near his nose, with a mini-ball. the ball remained there until his death. After the War, his already poor family was financially wiped out by the Carpetbaggers. He loaded his few personal belongings on an ox cart and left Marietta. He wound up in Hardin County, Kentucky, just north of Elizabethtown on a farm which is now part of Fort Knox reservation. He was a Southern Baptist Preacher and a farmer. His Children were Sarah Jane, Jefferson D., John Austin, Warden, Benjamin M, Rebecca M., and William Alfred (my great grandfather).

My grandmother (my dad's mother) was a Miller. I have traced her back to Major George Walls(d.1786). He was the father of Mary (Polly) Walls, who married Christopher Miller (son of Ernest Miller [ca 1740, Germany-bf 1798]) 01 Sep 1799 in VA. They were the parents of Isaiah Miller (1800-1863) born in KY. He was the father of William W. Miller (b. abt 1840). He was the father of William "Warren" Miller, Jr. (1867-1941). He was the father of Clara Miller who married Barney M. Day, my grandparents.

My grandmother (my mother's mother) was a Meador. I have traced them back to Bedford Co., VA. Thomas, f/o Ambrose, f/o Thomas Sr., f/o Thomas Jr.(b. VA - d. KY), f/o Elihu, f/o William Peyton, f/o Emma Lulu, who married John Taber (Tabor) my grandparents.
