Ocean City, 2008, Page 1

So, Steve had to work ALL summer and couldn't get away for a family vacation until the very last week before school. Luckily, Claudia had searched online to find a cool, family-friendly place to go: Ocean City, NJ. It was the first time Steve and Claudia had been back to a NJ beach town since they lived in New Brunswick! We rented an apartment right on the boardwalk, with a nice pool and a good view of the ocean. We had PERFECT weather: not a drop of rain and the temperatures were warm but not stifling! All-in-all it was a terrific week!

We got a place right on the boardwalk. This is not a shot of the place (it was about 1/4 mile down to the left from here), but gives you an idea of what it looked like from the beach looking back toward the boardwalk. This is the end of the commercial portion of the boardwalk, and the place directly in the middle of the picture is one of our favorite breakfast places on the boardwalk.

Here's another shot down the boardwalk. Steve and the girls are on the far right. Next to them is a surrey that you can rent, and during the weekends, the place was CRAWLING with them!

Here are Steve and the girls as they are about to undertake another miniature golf escapade! There were ~5 of these golf joints along the boardwalk and we went to 3 of them during our time!

Sarah is a junky for heights...NOT! Here is a picture of Claudia and Sarah at the top of the Ferris Wheel at one of the amusement parks. If you can't tell, Sarah's eyes are puffy from crying! Man, are we bad parents or what?

 
This ride was more Sarah's speed. It raised you up ~20 feet and then did a quick drop. You can see Sophie looking a bit scared, but she got into it on the 2nd and 3rd drops!

One of the mornings, we all rented a surrey and went on a bike ride up and down the boardwalk. Here we are in front of one of the numerous candy shops along the boardwalk. It was all great fun until we decided to go "off-roading" on the surface streets and found out that navigating among cars with this thing was "non-optimal"! We quickly got back on the boardwalk!

One of the evenings we took the "ghost tour" through the town of Ocean City. Apparently, Ocean City has a fair few of the more "haunted" buildings in the U.S. - who knew? This is a painting of the woman who is supposed to haunt the most famous hotel on the boardwalk!
