I am currently a Correctional Officer working
at the Federal Correctional Institution located at Talladega, Alabama.
I have been with the Bureau of Prisons at Talladega since October 1985.
I have worked through two riots at Talladega ( Sept. 1991/Oct. 1995)
and assisted in operations at the U.S. Penitentiary in Atlanta following
the Cuban riot/takeover in 1987. One of the reasons I enjoy the job is
that it is always a challenge and you never really know what might happen
from one day to the next.
In addition, I hold a couple
of Collateral Duties. I am part of the institutions cadre of Firearms
Instructors providing Annual Refresher Training to staff on the 12
guage shotgun, M-16 rifle and the 9mm Ruger Automatic Pistol as well as
other specialized training in Firearms and Marksmanship. I am also an Alternate
Security Officer(Locksmith) providing assistance to the Security Officer
by making repairs to locks/locking devices and maintaining accountability
of security equipment,riot control agents,weapons and ammunition.
