From May 31 through June 2,
a group of ten members from our Thursday Night Anniston City League got
together and attended the ABC National Tournament held at the National
Bowling Stadium in Reno, Nevada. We were able to find a very good package
for the trip and had accommodations at Circus Circus during our stay. We
bowled our team event on Monday, June 1st at 10:30 PM and our Doubles/Singles
event on Tuesday, June 2nd at 2:30 PM. We had a good time on the trip,
although we as a team or in the doubles event didn't do exceptionally well.
In my Singles event, I did extremely well shooting a 214, a 222, and a
201 for a 637 series. I received a prize check in the amount of $49.00
for my performance in the overall tournament and won $70.00 in the brackets
I entered for the event. I purchased a new bowling ball while at the tournament
and had an overall bowling analysis performed using the CATS (Computer
Aided Tracking System) to help me improve my overall bowling performance.
It has proved very beneficial and I will be fine tuning many of the techniques
during the upcoming winter league season.
The fun and fellowship of the trip was wonderful and
the experience of participating in a national tournament at this level
is an experience any avid bowler should try to do at least once in their
lifetime. It will truly be something you will talk about and remember for
years to come.
I took quite a few pictures while in Reno of not only
our group but also of many of the sights around town. Our official participation
photograph as well as some of my pictures of sights around Reno are below.
