I have a Bush family in NC. My gggrandfather was William James Carr Bush Who was the Son of John Bush. WJC Bush married Amelia Ann Boswell known as Emily And her tombstone says Milly. I don't have dates right now but they had 8 to 10 children most born around the 1850's. A lot of these children eventually went to various places in Georgia. If anyone has heard of this family I"ll look for the dates I have and see if we can benefit each other.

I am out of the Thomas Bush line. I show my Thomas Bush was born abt. 1620. I do not know if that is the Thomas that you list as being born in 1656. Thomas had a son, William, born abt. 1645 in Isle of Wight Co., VA. William married Martha Corlee. William and Martha's children were: William who went to KY; Rose md George Wynns; Martha md unknown Corlee; Elander md a McLendon; Elizabeth md a McLendon; and John md. Mary Bryan (I am out of John's Line). All this Info comes from a book called OUR KIN.

My Joseph Boyer Reynolds was born in Stephensburg, KY in 1806, the son of Nathaniel Reynolds (born in King William County, VA in 1762) and Ann Boyer Reynolds. In 1829 Joseph, who was a farmer and country doctor, married Phoebe (or Phebe) Bush in Kentucky. They were in Illinois by 1840. I think they claimed War of 1812 bounty land in Illinois, possibly for Joseph's father or brother. Their daughter Melinda was my g-grandmother. Their son Charles Alexander Reynolds was the famous Western scout, Lonesome Charley Reynolds, who died with Custer at Little Big Horn. Much history has been attempted (and written) about the Reynolds family because of Charley, and I am currently corresponding with a historian who is writing a book on Charley and has done a great deal of background work on the Reynolds family.

Phoebe Bush Reynolds died in 1845, and Joseph returned to Kentucky and married a woman named Lydia, and moved back to Illinois. About 1857, Joseph moved to Kansas and was active in the anti-slavery movement there. The Reynolds family had helped establish Christian churches and a Christian college in Illinois (the college was named Abingdon and Melinda and Charley attended, but the college later merged with Eureka College; I also have seen the name Abingdon in Bush family records and wonder if there is a connection).

I have never been able to find the names of Phoebe's parents. Also, what is the connection between your Bush family and Sarah Bush Lincoln, Abe's step-mother? She was from Kentucky about the same time as Phoebe, so I have often wondered of Sarah's connection to other Bushes.

My records show that William R Bush was the son of John Council Bush, Jr and the brother of Moses Eason Bush. Zachariah Bush was also a brother. John council Bush, Sr had a son named William Bush. Maybe he was the one who was the son-in-law of William Williams. William Williams was the Lighthouse Keeper on St. George Island at Appalachacola. He built the first cotton gin in Barbour County. it states that there were 4 Williams brothers: Mark williams, William Williams, Charley williams, and Bartley C Williams. Bartley was the first postmaster of Williamston at the Ryan Cross Roads. William Williams married Arrency Bush, the daughter of Zachariah Bush and Polly Dennis. One mistake that the book mentions is that the Bush boys were from Charleston SC. That is of course not true and is documented from many other sources. Again, I refer your friends to the book by Elizabeth Willis DeHuff, "The Bush Family as descended from John and Mary Bryan Bush", that is in the NC State Library. It has the entire family published and documented with deeds from NC through GA into Barbour Co, AL. As to the Eliza Jones and Ariel Jones, I do not have any knowledge of them in Barbour co,

Noticed reference to your webpage on VA-ROOTS and thought I would respond as I have some Bush ancestors. My GGGGGrandmother was Barbara Bush. I am new to genealogy but will try and give what I have.
Richard Bush Sr. b. 1640 in Essex Co. VA Mar. Elizabeth Bibby b. 1650. Son Richard Bush b. 1678 d. 1736 Essex Co. VA mar. Elizabeth Roberts b. 1675 Son Bibby Bush b. 1700 Essex Co. d. 1748 Essex Co. mar. Susanna Walker b. 1705 d. 19 Feb 1788 in Halifax Co. VA. Daughter Barbara Bush b. 1730 mar. John Bomar b. abt 1728 d. 1779. Daughter Martha Bomar b. 1800 Halifax Co. VA d.16 Feb 1865 mar. 21 Jul 1821 William McCraw Hensley b. 1804 Halifax Co. VA d. 1871 Henry Co. VA. In looking thru your ancestors I noticed a Thomas M. b. 1817 mar. Polly Ramey in 1837 had a son with a given name of Hensley b. 1844. This caught my eye. You may have the above information, but thought I would pass on. I do not have resources for some of above info. What I do not personally have at hand was furnished by a distant cousin who is a genealogist and in charge of genealogy department of Denver CO. Library so I feel it is reliable.

I need help in determing the origins of William Bush, b.1758 d. 1827 m. Elizabeth Shearer, who settled on the South Fork of Grassy Creek, Pendleton County, KY in the late 1780's. William had 11 children, the oldest was Mary b. 3/22/1789 and the youngest was Simeon b. 8/29/1809. Family lore and circumstantial evidence suggests that William served in George Rogers Clark's Illinois Regiment from date unknown until 1783.

I need help with 3 "dead ends" in my BUSH line. One is my uncle, another is my Grandfathers brother (GrandUncle?) and the other is my GGGrandfather. I have no clues where George W. BUSH was before 1860 or after 1880.
~~~~~~~
With Charles Ellis BUSH, I know he has 3 surviving children but don't know their names. I found the church that did his service knew him by his nickname but was very uncooperative. I don't know where to try next?
~~~~~~~
Same with Homer Ellis BUSH, they had a child or 2 but don't know anything about them.

I am researching the Bush name. My Bush family came from PA sometime in the mid 1800's to MO but we arent sure if or where they stopped along the way. The first 2 Bushes we know of were Herman or Harman. They both lived in PA. The last one died in 1801 and the following Peter is probably a grandson of the last Herman. Peter Bush died 1885 m. Mary ? who died 1887. Their son was Peter Alfred Bush (1843-1911) m. Maria Jane Sterling (1847-1918). Their son was Charles Ogle Bush (1881-1961) m. Hazel Dean Simms (1898-1967).

I am still looking for ANY leads on Moses BUSH who appears on the 1850 and 1860 Census in Onondaga Co NY , in Syracuse. He says he was born in Canada about 1820-1822. His wife is Mary(I think DALEY) and she was born in Ireland. When he dies in 1891 in Syracuse his next of kin are listed as Moses and Hester BUSH rather than his wife so they may have been parents names. His death card says he was born Louis? I believe that the name was changed from BEAUCHAMP to BUSH, but I don't know when. Only know that three of his daughters used the surname BEAUCHAMP, yet it is BUSH when they are born and boys used BUSH.

I am researching my maternal grandfather's side of the family, which just hapen to be Bush/Busch. I have really had a time finding info on these folks. I ran across your web site and went through your tree. John W. Bush and Wyatt caught my eye right off the bat. I'm not sure if it is link or not. Anyway the story I have or should I say the part of the story is this. After the Civil War A Union soldier, John Wyatt Bush, came to MS. He met and married Elisabeth Westbrook. They caught a steamboat a went "back" to IN. There they had 4 children. Only 2 of them survived, John David and Lewis Franklin. John Wyatt died by 1869 and Elisabeth brought the boys back to MS. Do you know of any Bushes that went to IN?
