{St. James Lutheran, Mannheim} {Youth Ministry Information} {Skeletons}

I'm a 4th year student at the University of Waterloo in Canada studying Urban and Regional Planning. I'm a Christian who likes the flavour of Lutheranism. It didn't hurt that I have a German background

At waterloo, I am involved with Lutheran Campus Ministry and the Lutheran Student Movement.

I am a part of the cooperative education program at Waterloo. I have had four cooperative education placements. 3 in Canada's capital, Ottawa. My first and last placement in Ottawa was for a an environmental consulting company called by dEsign consultants
My second placement in Ottawa was working for Environment Canada in the Biodiversity Convention Office

I am a Lutheran as was mentioned in the beginning. I belong to the largest Canadian Lutheran Church, the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Canada (ELCIC). We are small in Canada, just about 200,000 members across Canada, puny compared to the Anglicans, Roman Catholics and the United Church in Canada. But we have done and continue to do some great stuff in this country and around the world. Globally, Lutherans are the largest protestant denomination, so we've got lots a friends from across the world.
To find out about the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Canada check out the ELCIC homepage at
Within the ELCIC, my congregation is located in the Eastern synod (a geographic unit to help divide up ministry goals across the country). The eastern synod has a web page too, check it out

I'm on the world mission committee for the Eastern synod, check out this website with details about mission in the ELCIC St. James Lutheran, Mannheim along with one awesome lady (Tracy), I must say. St. James is a tiny congregation with roughly 120 or so members with an average worshipping attendance of about 70-80, not bad really. We are in a growing section of the region just west of Kitchener. We are looking for great things from God in the future as we have been constantly blessed by him in the past.
In 1997-1998 I've lived in Ottawa for 12 months, while there I worshipped and was part of a community at All Saints Lutheran Church

World Council of Churches 8th Assembly in Zimbabwe

I was blessed to be a youth steward at the 8th assembly of the World Council of Churches(WCC), held in Harare Zimabwe. I was one of only 9 Canadian youth to be involved in the program and the only Lutheran young person - not bad eh? To find out about the WCC

Zimbabwe Rocks!

Zimbabwe is a wonderful nation full of natural resources. The best resource being its people who even in times of turbulence continue to turn to God and Rejoice in Hope. On arrival at Harare, I was greeted by very nice hosts who bent over backward to make me and the other foreigners feel more than welcome. I already miss this country and dream of an eventual return. For now this little bit of info on the web and my photos will have to do.
