Marquette County Habitat for Humanity is an ecumenical, Christian organization whose mission is to build simple, decent houses in partnership with people in need in Marquette County. Equally important is the way that Habitat encourages communities to improve the standard of living of friends and neighbors. These homes are built with volunteer labor and donated materials and funds.
During construction, Habitat partner families contribute several hundred hours of "sweat equity" per adult in the household and a small down payment. The homes are then sold to the partner family with no interest, thus enabling families to achieve the dream of home ownership as "a hand up, not a handout".

Since its inception in late 1992, MCHFH has built or renovated 33 homes in Marquette County, nineteen in Marquette, eight in Negaunee, three in Ishpeming, and one each in National Mine, Champion and Michigamme. Click here to see where we are building in 2003.
