According to a list posted on Movie Times online
(www.the-movie-times.com), Harrison Ford is the highest earner in BO
history with a total combined figure of $2,849,165,472! Ford was the
first actor in screen history to break the billion mark (which all 25
men
on the list and the top 6 women have broken) and remains the only actor
to have broken the $2 billion.
Carrie Fisher tops the list of women with $1,449,635,736.
Kate Winslet is # 14 of the women with a combined total of $657,208,592.
Where this list becomes interesting for Kate fans is when you look at
the
average column, where the total figure gets divvied by the number of
films they've made.
With over 31 movies, Harrison Ford has an average of $91,908,564.
Carrie Fischer (25 movies) averages just under $58 million.
But, with only 6 movies to her credit, Kate's average is $109,534,785
!!!!
Unless there is another actor lower in the list with a better average,
this make Kate the highest earner per-film in Hollywood. Ford Comes
second and third place goes to Tom Cruise with about $82 mil per film.
In
fact, Kate is the only actor, male or female, on these two lists to
average over $100 million.
And we Creature listers know, this is more than luck on her part. It's
a
combination of talent and her ability to choose worthwhile projects.

I'm hoping someone can help me. I just recently got my hot little

a copy of the HC soundtrack (and damn, that sucker's a keeper). I
remember
reading on the Fourth World website the correct order of the tracks,
but I
can't find the page where it was listed. Please, direct me!

A good source for region 2 material (they ship worldwide):

HeavenlyWeb will be back online as soon as I finish working things out
with Bryan. Yeah, I know you must have read something similar before,
but now it's for real. As long as I'm involved in the Borovnian
Archives, I promise to keep HevenlyWeb online. Anyway, Bryan also asked
me to :)
And, about the listmembers database, I'm thinking of some little changes
(for better, I guarantee) and I'll put the gallery soon. But for now, a
little new feature: to guarantee that only listmembers can post their
info, I put a password to access the submission form. Password is
2bHi2FopH
Check it out and post your info, if you didn't already (remember to
click the button, not hit "enter"). Cool new things will arrive soon at
the Archives!

hello everyone! :)
my name is Lyn (short for Kristilyn) and I just joined this list about
10
minutes ago! I rented Heavenly Creatures yesterday night and I thought
it
was a very well done movie, though a little disturbing during Honora's
death. I'm a huge fan of Kate Winslet and am really amazed that she was
only 17 when this movie was done!
anyways, I'm not too sure what really goes on on this list, so I guess
I'll
end my intro here! Feel free to email me if you like! :)

Well, it's not in the film, that's why it's listed last. I've been

Hmmm, let's see... Remember that the password's case sensitive, that is,
2bHi2FopH is not the same as 2bhi2foph.
Anyway, the trick there is to hide the page named 2bHi2FopH.html from
people that don't know it's name, and I put it there because anyone
that's not a listmember could send anything before this (unlikely, but
there's always a possibility...).
So, if you still can't access it through the little box, just type
directly the address
http://www.geocities.com/Hollywood/Lot/8826/2bHi2FopH.html. It works
fine for MS Internet Explorer users, too.

I just saw this excellent 1991 horror flick on dvd, and it's one of
the best films i have seen in a long time. Beautiful music by philip
glass, gorcious cinematography, and a haunting, dramatic storyline.
What more could you ask for.
What does it have to do with HC? Well, not much, it's just that the
scene where helen's shrink get's gutted by candyman is frightfully
similar to the scene in HC where diello kills dr bennet. The shrink
is sitting behind his desk, talking to helen, while suddenly candyman
appears behind him and kills him by planting his mighty hook in the
shrink's back. And like diello in HC, candyman is a product of
helen's imagination.

Hmmmm.
When Peter and Fran were in Montreal in 1992, I drove them to see
'Candyman' in a theatre. They were writing HC at the time.

Hey, well, gang, I've been away again (what...AGAIN??!!!..what can I say..) and once again
there's the mad dash to catch up on my emails. However I have like over 400 and so
naturally its gonna take time, so, if what I'm gonna talk about is like old news or
something then you'll know why and hopefully forgive..
Did anyone else catch Caterstreet Hangman on A&E the other day? I'm curious as to
what you think. It's been so long since I read the book that I don't recall if it followed
the book closely and all of that. It did prompt me to go out and buy the book and I'm going
to re read it. Also here's a good question for everyone who reads Anne Perry: How many of
you have been a fan of Perry's even before you knew she was Juliet Hulme and how
many decided to check out her books because she was who she was. I'm one of the latter
but I've gotten to where I've started enjoying the books. The fact that Anne Perry is who
she is as just sort of sunk into the background.
Just curious..

I definitely checked out her books, because of the fact that she is Juliet
Hulme! I have little interest in mystery novles (fiction), but, because I
know her background, I think I catch little things that are 'based on a true

Hi, Lyn!
Nice to see a new member!
If you want a lot of information not just about the movie, but also about the
real people and facts behind it, you should take a look at the 4th world -
Heavenly Creatures Website at
http://www.geocities.com/Hollywood/Studio/2194/creatures.html
When I discovered it (by chance, I was just browsing in the online version of
Microsoft Cinemania), I felt like being in the Fourth World :-)

Hi Erin.
I too listened closely to the soundtrack, but could not hear a
peddle cracking, either. But that could also be a problem of your CD player.
I once listened to the TITANIC soundtrack (great!!!) using my CD-ROM
drive on the computer, and when I occasionally listened to it on my
sister's stereo, it was as if a whole new dimension was added.

I MUST have the HC cd. My father tried to order it from Amazon and CDnow.
But they took it off the market. I want that CD so bad. If anyone knows any
online stores where I can buy it, please tell me! Thanks!

The pedal creak referred to in the FAQ does not sound like the creaking
noise that an old floorboard might give off when you step on it. Its
different. Its actually two sounds I think. One is a clicking sound and
the
other is a muffled low-frequency sound that is kind of hard to
describe. Try
listening with headphones. The clicking sound is pretty easy to hear on
"Pauline and Juliette" at the following times: 00:03, 02:02, 02:13,
02:34.
The muffled sound is most obvious at around 02:13.
Geez, are we obsessed with this film or what.

It's already there. The problem is that I wrote to Bryan asking him if
everything was ok before telling everybody about it, because, after all,
it's his work. As I had to fix some of his HTML code - mainly the
clickable image map on the front page and his links, I wanted to be sure
that he approved what I did.
I also asked him if he could send me some files I didn't have, mainly
most of the wavs and one or two pages. But he didn't answer yet (and
it's been more than one week), so now that you're asking I can only tell
you and everybody else that HeavenlyWeb is back online, even not being
totally complete.
The new location is
http://www.geocities.com/Hollywood/Lot/8826/heavenly, and I intend it to
be there until forever, at least ;)
But for the site to be totally complete again I have to ask for
everybody's help. I compiled a list with all the files I didn't back up,
so if anybody has them and want to help me, please do so. Many of these
files haven't been online for quite a long time (for instance, the NZFC
pictures), so I think maybe older listmembers may still have them, if
you had the chance to save these, of course.
I had quite a tough job fixing HeavenlyWeb to work inside the Archives.
But the job's not finished, so this can be a real team work if anyone's
willing to help :)
:*
Juliana.
PS: Hey, Bryan, are you still there?

Ever After arrived to mexico last week. I just saw it last night. It
is not a jewel but, as a fairy tale that it is, I must say that I loved
it. Mel's part is so small that you cannot fully appreciate her genius,
but she did it very very well. What can you say from a very pink story,
but if you expect that you won't be dissapointed at all.

For those of you who are following the pre production of the Lord of the
Rings Trilogy, Peter Jackson has been periodically talking about it on
the Ain't It Cool News web site. Harry Knowles, who runs the site and
has a brief appearance in the Robert Rodriguez film 'The Faculty,' has
been keeping in touch with Jackson during pre production. Jackson has
posted two times on the making of the film, but he hasn't said anything
of big interest yet. But, Jackson has said he will do a Question and
Answer session with Harry right after Christmas. If you want to submit
questions, go the the Ain't it Cool Web site: www.aint-it-cool-news.com,
and E-mail Harry with your questions. I'm not sure when the actual Q &
A will appear on the web site, but it is updated with news every day.
So keep checking in. Its a great place to find out pre production geek
news. When the Q & A is posted, I will let everyone know.
Have a great new year,
Paul

I guess, though this is just my interp, that it was to show how she
wasn't
happy with what was going on, but had committed herself to it anyway.
Plus,
if you read the lyrics for the piece she was singing, it fits in to the
whole thing.

Hello and
A Happy New Year,
here is what the FAQ says about it:
(well, everyone should have his/her own opinion, but I think here it is
expressed eloquently)
** What does Juliet sing from the balcony of Ilam? [lfr]
The headlong rush of the film's narrative is ruptured at a
critical point by Juliet's poignant a capella rendering of
Puccini's "Sono andati?" from LA BOHEME, sung by Kate Winslet.
At this point Juliet has agreed to help Pauline murder
Honora and there is at last a calm sense of complete
inevitability introduced by this piece. It is as if the girls
have finally given up all thoughts of fighting their destiny, and
once again there is a strong sense of predetermination, which
continues in a quiet, chilling way for the rest of the film.
Juliet's singing begins off-screen with a close-up of
Pauline, which fades into a split-screen image with Juliet,
followed by a very slow dissolve of Pauline. This sustains the
dynamic that the narrative remains from Pauline's point-of-view,
and that she is imagining Juliet as a tragic-romantic heroine,
singing to her. Also, significantly, the second ship scene, so
key to understanding Jackson's view of the girls' relationship,
is interleaved with this piece.
In the opera LA BOHEME, the declaration of love is sung by
the consumptive, tuberculin Mimi (another striking parallel with
Juliet, see 3.1.8) to Rodolpho, knowing she is near the brink of
death:
"Sono andati? "Have they gone?
Fingevo di dormire I pretended to be asleep
Percho volli Because I wanted
con te sola restare to be alone with you
Ho tante cose I've so many things
che ti voglio dire to tell you
O una sola Or one thing,
ma grande como il mare as huge as the sea
Como il mare, Deep and infinite
profunda ed infinita as the sea
Sei il mio amor I love you
- e tutta la mia vita." - you're all my life."
[Giacomo Puccini, LA BOHEME, English translation - William
Weaver]
Taken literally, this striking image and these beautiful, tender
and tremendously sad words form a strong statement in support of
Pauline being deeply, romantically and desperately in love with
Juliet.
--
My New Year’s resolution is a far more selfish one than last
year, so there is more probability of my keeping it. It is
to make my motto:
"Eat, drink and be merry, for tomorrow you may be dead."
(Pauline in 'Heavenly Creatures')

I've decided it. Yes. My God, it's true. Everything in life reverts
back to 3 things: *clears throat* RENT, The lion King, and Heavenly
Creatures. And this is now proven with the public outing of the actual
meaning of the balcony scene! Lo Behome(spelling?) is the original
piece that Larson's RENT derived from...maybe someday (if we are all
lucky*S*) I will go more into detail...but my friends, I think we are
on the verge of something here! we are years ahead of everyone(hehe)
happy new years folks.....

Hi all you heavenly creatures around the globe,
I wonder if you are all still on vacation or if I got unsubscribed from
this list without any notice. Are there no further comments on HC? So we
can shut down this list? (just kidding, I hope this day will never come)
So here is something HC-related:
What do you think about an HC-calendar? This idea came to my mind these
days. Actually, I want to compile a collection of 12 significant pics
with some info from the HC-FAQ (timeline of important events). By now my
concept is a bit vague so I would appreciate any notion.
So long,
Frank

Hey Frank!
That would be a really nifty idea. The HC-Calendar.
Anyone have any relevant HC-dates?
If so, I can make a nifty web HC Calendar! =)

It's a good idea.
The dates could be either related to the real events (including stuff
like "Juliet publishes her first novel under the pseudonym Anne Perry")
as well as the film's history, release dates and cast birthdays.

Great, Frank! Actually, I also thought about it too, after I downloaded
a Xena calendar which had some important dates, birthdays of fans and
all that. We would have to compile all the dates from the FAQ... our
birthdays too? :)
I've also been working on the HC-related Win95/98 stuff for my site, so
I promise to have some desktop themes, wallpapers and all that soon
online. And, of course, there's the rebirth of HeavenlyWeb. I made a
list of all the files I don't have, so if there's anyone who's willing
to help please email me privately for this list.
One more thing, I found a review of Glamuzina & Laurie's book, it's in

Happy 1999!

Wow, Frank, what a GREAT idea! I can't believe it never occured to me -
after all, I do graphic design and production for a living!
When I was in art school I did a calendar project. It was supposed to be
something unconventional, for a calendar, so I did twelve different
phobias
(with BW photo collages to illustrate). Talk about black humor! I was
quite
proud of it.
I think that I will be working on this one soon. I don't want to step on
anyone's toes if they want to do one of their own either.. the more the
merrier. But this is something I'd really enjoy.
Why, with a little luck, one of those New York publishers will pick it
up!

Clive Merrison is a gentleman of the stage who works a heck of a lot in
supporting roles for british films and TV shows. He's one of those
faces
whose face you recognize, yet who is always totally believable in the
part he plays. I have a lot of respect for actors like that. I've seen
him in "Space Precinct", "Yes Minister!" and "The English Patient".
He's played Sherlock Holmes onstage. I would've loved to see that.

Hi everyone.
I don't post very often to this list, although I love reading comments
(especially you, Jean!) about one of my favorite movies of all time
(sorry... it's not alone.. Star Wars is pretty up there and I've been
mega-hyper since the trailer release. I've already taken off May 21st
for
it).
I wanted to write about something VERY off topic.
I'm an online journaller.
I write down my daily thoughts and we're a little online culture (there
are
a number of people that keep an online journal up regularly.. some for
years).
Well, I read something today that just took the cake.
It is one of the best examples of online journal writing I have ever
read
and it is so beautiful and emotional. I wanted to share it with
everyone...

Hi creatures,
again I thought about this project. Maybe you want to compile it on your
own, then please stop reading here.
Otherwise, the following could be something like a beginning of a
brainstorming:
every page should have a quote or info about the specific events which
happened
January:
an introduction to the calendar with a pic of the 4th world
(butterflies, unicorns)
(quote: 'tis indeed a miracle, one must feel, that two such heavenly
creatures a real')
February:
pic of the CGHS (with historical data)
April:
pic of PP and JH at Port Levy (happened in fact in 1953, April 3-6 (Mrs
Hulme does hair, calls Pauline her "foster daughter")
May:
pic of Juliet dancing in the garden at Ilam
August:
pic of the bicycle ride (Donkey Serenade scene which happened in fact in
1952, August)
December:
pic of Christmas Eve at the Riepers
(quote: 'I decided that my New Year’s resolution is to be more lenient
with others.')
several events/film scenes:
- Balcony scene (planning to go to Hollywood, real diary entry written
at 02/28/54)
- "Hideous scene": "We give praise to the saints"
- collage "for the good of your health" (in November 1946 (?) Juliet
was sent allone to Bahamas, in December 1947 (?) she was sent to the
"Bay of (bloody) Islands")
- and of course it should contain a pic related to "Borovnia"
some notable dates:
1938, May 26th : PYP's birthday
1938, October, 28th : JMH's birthday
1954, June, 6th : day of Honora Parker's death
1981, May, 5th : day of Herbert Rieper's death
1991, January, 8th : day of Dr Hulme's death
Just my thoughts,
Frank

Hi all,
Just one thing on the calendar: Please make it a recycable one! (-: Not
one with days and dates together, although it might be fun to know what
the actual day of the events was...but then again, everything's spread
out over a coupla years. Hmmm...I'm just making it more complicated
here. Sorry.

So some of you may have asked yourself how possibly could RENT, HC and
The Lion King be connected to everything in life (some of you may have
questioned my sanity as well*wink*). When I made my statement before,
I meant that everything would come back to one of the 3..and now with
a bit(a very little bit) of "research" it turns out that all three are
interconnected....let me explain:
RENT --->based on La Bohème--->HC--->Juliet(kate winslet) sings a song
from "la B" in the balcony scene--->The Lion King---> stars(among
other voice talents) Jeremy Irons as the hideous(hehe) villain,
scar.--->Fairies(see note below.) staring both Jeremy and Kate as
voice talents(if we all remember the Month of: December 1998 *** THE
KATE WINSLETTER ***)
.......
there! that is the first and(i'm thinking) most basic connection at
this point...as time moves forth, bridges are built...
cheers my friends,
Anna
NOTE:Kate to be Voice of "Brigid" in Animated Film, "Fairies"Kate
Winslet will provide the voice of "Brigid" in the animated feature
film, "Fairies", due to premiere in late 1999. Jeremy Irons and
Dougray Scott ("Ever After") will join Kate in making the voices for
the film, produced as family programming by STARZ! Pictures.

Ever heard of "Six degrees of separation"?
It's a social theory that says that if you look hard enough you'll soon
find out that anything or anyone is connected in less than six degrees.
It's the basis for the "Bacon Game" which links any actor to Kevin
Bacon
in six moves or less. The rules are simple: 1-Name an actor 2-Bid on
how
little degrees you can connect that actor to KB 3-The contestant who
comes up with the lowest number has to justify it.
Being knowledgeable about credits and trivia is a asset to this game.
The game is also played with connecting two actors. (Since I'm not a
huge
Bacon fan I do better at that variation).
The most fun I've had with that game was at a party recently where
someone threw in "Jean to Kate Winslet". The lowest bid was 3! LOL. We
were playing the game with two of the young stars of "Radio Active" a
teen sitcom shot here in Montreal (which recently began on YTV). Not
wanting to get bugged with "Do you know Leo?" (which usually follows
when
teens find out I worked with Kate), I had identified myself as a writer
(when bugged with the eternal question "What do you do for a living?").
When the person who threw my name out cruelly smiled and said "One!",
one
of the girls turned to me and said "Were you in Titanic when they were
shooting in Halifax (canada)? Cuz there's no way you were in Heavenly
Creatures- that's a New-Zealand film!".I just pulled out my wallet
where
I have a pic of me and Kate and she began screaming "Oooooh my
Gaaaaawd!"
I had a good laugh over that one! (as did the person who threw in my
name).
In this city HC only played 5 weeks (due to it not having a french
version available at the time- cuz that's the law in Quebec, Canada's
predominantly french speaking province) finding someone who's seen the
film is rare.

There's a web site based on this idea, too. Once registered, you can
link
yourself to people you know by making them part of your "first degree".
You
specify the nature of the relationship - friend, sister, significant
other,
etc - and they are sent a message asking them to confirm the
relationship.
If they're not already part of sixdegrees they are given an account
automatically.
There's a few different features on the site, but the coolest thing is
just
checking what kind of people are connected to you and by how many
degrees.
(I was dismayed to find that even many degrees away from myself I was
still
finding computer nerd types, but I guess that's to be expected :-) I
showed
it to a colleague at work and he said his girlfriend was registered, so
we
put in her details. We found she & I were linked by 14 degrees - via
people
in Sweden!
The interface is a little over-complex and I've found it intolerably
slow a
few times, but it's definitely a nifty idea. I'm not really sure what
use
it has beyond curiousity value for users, but for the operators of the
site
it is a fantastic marketing platform...(in fact, getting your friends to
sign up for something is a little too Amway-ish for my liking ;-)
It's at http://www.sixdegrees.com if you want to check it out.

P.S. I've nearly finished a review of Matricide - The Musical, the
avant-garde operatic production based on the Parker-Hulme case. I
posted a
newspaper review of it to the list back in December and I saw it myself
shortly afterwards. I'll post my thoughts to the list when done, or a
link
to it if it's too long. In short, it was very good. Very good, but
certainly "different"...

Sorry to write another "I finally saw Ever After" message, but, you
know, I just had to...
I think I may be the last person on this list to see it, but anyway: I
was so incredibly thrilled to see Mel again, she's even more beautiful
now! I had to control myself not to scream each time I saw her, I
actually had to hide my face with a really big smile from my friends, to
avoid the "why on earth she's so excited about Jacqueline??"... too bad
that they gave her such a silly end.
And then, what's the first thing I hear someone say in the movie?
"Paulette!!" What was that, the french class? LOL! Another thing that
brought me back to HC immediately was the way Mel frowns her eyebrows to
show disapproval, almost disgust - I just love when she does that.
Nobody I know has so many expressive faces in all occasions like her!
What do you think about that? I feel that this particular way in which
Mel can show uneasiness when frowning her eyebrows is really unique.
And, of course, it's one of the keys to understand Pauline's character.
Eagerly waiting for the calendar... if anyone wants help I'll be pleased
to work on that too :)
:*
Juliana.

The Roger Moore Academy for Performing Facial Hair has a long and
distinguished catalogue of alumni.
I agree about Mel's face. To go from glaring frowns to sweetest smiles
in a
few twitches is one of her great assets. I still haven't seen Ever
After,
though, dammit.
