Well, while you're waiting for the tape to come out, you can get a

quick Melanie fix here:

http://www.forcor.com/makeup/mel.html

I don't know how many of you have already seen these, but I thought

I'd mention them. She has blossomed into quite a beauty hasn't she.

Hi!

Yesterday I was sick, and because I couldn't get up from bed I just

watched HC. It was really great. But later I wanted to record the

chapter of Dawson's Creek (if you know what it is) and I asked my

brother to change the cassette. He accidentally put the HC video back in

the VCR instead of another cassette, and then I found out- I don't have

Heavenly Creatures anymore! I can't watch that wonderful, beautiful

movie again until the movies channel will think about showing it again.

I am so depressed! Wouldn't you be???????????? Please, try to cheer me

up!!!!

hi everyone.

i'm doing a paper for school about "gothic architecture".

while doing research i came across a familiar word, it was one of the

names of

a church. i thought i had heard it before either in heavenly creatures

or

jude. does anyone on the list know if either jude or HC has any scenes

in a

"gothic" building? if it does, i was thinking of showing a scene to my

class

as a visual and as part of my oral presentation. thanks everyone...=)

I looked EVERYWHERE for this magazine, couldn't find it anywhere. The

only magazine with a similar name I found was Celebrity Skin... and I'm

not going to buy that! *lol*

Hanna, could you tell me where I could find it? Or could you please scan

Hi,

I spent last night, trying to translate the review for you, so here it

is. Please read it and change the things that aren't spelled correct, or

wrong in any other way. Some sentences might be a bit weird because I

tried to translate some typical Dutch sayings literally, and I tried to

stay as close to the original review as possible. Please change them

whenever needed.

Well, here it is:

Fate Strikes in Jude

Review by E.K.

Ten-cent pieces will never become quarters, is the gloomy conclusion of

the ill-fated drama Jude. Intelligence, good wil and hard work only lead

to a tragedy in Thomas Hardy's last novel 'Jude the obscure' (1895).

Optimist Jude Fawly only asks for two things in his life: to collect

knowledge and two live a peaceful life with his love Sue. But he smashed

into the prejudices and the narrow views of Victorian England.

And all this because of a rash crush. The naive bookworm Jude was

trapped into a marriage by seduced Arabella, but they had only just got

married when she leaves for Australia. Jude tries to get into the

University of Christminster, but in the centre of knowledge there's no

room for a lower-class person. In that city, he meets his great-niece

Sue and he falls for her intelligence, humor and independence. He helps

her to get a job as a teacher for principal Phillotson, the man who,

during his childhood, used to tell him that everyone can control his own

destiny.

Jude tries to, but fate keeps hounding him. When Sue finds out he's

married, out of revenge she throws herself into a marriage with the

amourous Phillotson.

Later on, Sue chooses a life with Jude, but society doesn't approve of

living together without being married. He loses his job as a stonemason

when people find out about his sinful relationship and only in the

poorest guest houses Sue and Jude find a place for them and their two

children to stay for the night. Just when they're slowly starting to

feel more happy, Arabelle comes back into the picture. She comes to

leave Jude's little son with our main characters. They take care of him

with love, but a misunderstood comment leads to a drama, that eventually

drives the two lovers apart.

It's a bit hard to accept that the independent, soberminded Sue clings

to the buoy of religion with all her strength, but leading lady Kate

Winslet knows to give meaning to that twist also. The remarkable

newcomer from 'Sense and Sensibility' plays an unforgettable part as the

spiritual Sue, a woman who, with her thoughts and actions, fits in our

time.

In that, almost modern atmosphere, director Michael Winterbottom lets

his splendid melodrama reveal itself. His pleasant, distant approach

gives Kate Winslet and the modestly and convincing acting Christopher

Eccleston the freedom to fill in the emotions. This produces a story

that is everything but old-fashioned, being a product of its time only

because of the moral (that doesn't stand far from us at all in the

essence of the case) and the beautiful settings.

****

Take care,

Marloes

But, the new HOLE cd with the same name is quite brilliant (not as

brilliant as LIVE THROUGH THIS though). Especially track 8, NORTHERN

This may seem off topic at first ...however if you read on you'll find

a

few connections.

Tomorrow (Oct 30th) marks the 60th aniversary of Orson Welles'

infamous "Panic Broadcast".

On the night of Sunday Oct 30th, thousands of people listening to their

radios became convinced that Martians had landed, laid New-Jersey to

waste and were now moving in on New-York. What they were listening to

was

"The Mercury Theatre on the Air's" adaptation of H.G. Wells' "War of

the

Worlds"on the CBS radio network. The radio play was directed by "The

most

hideous man alive" (as designated by Juliet Hulme).

The play was designed as a series of news flashes cutting into "a

program

of dance music with Ramon Roquello and his Orchestra". People who tuned

a

few minutes into the program (and hadn't heard the intro or Orson's

marvellous prologue) thought the news reports were legit. This sparked

off a panic so disastrous, it changed the rules of radio and television

broadcast forever. It is the reason why CBS still, to this day,

maintains

the biggest legal department in the biz.

For a few days Welles, best know at the time for giving listeners the

creeps as "The Shadow" on radio, was indeed seen as "hideous" by the

general populace. However a few days later, public opinion began to

shift. Welles and his gang were seen as heroes who demonstrated the

full

power of media.

In his defense, he claimed this was a halloween prank that went

horribly

wrong. Oct 30th is traditionally known as "mat night" as kids played

pranks like stealing doormats. He claimed he had no idea it would turn

out this way. However, later in life, he admitted they knew exactly

what

they were doing. It's just that they were being threatened with

lawsuits

in the aftermath of the Broadcast.

In the months that followed, it was "promotions all around" for the

people involved:

- Welles moved to H'wood where he demonstrated the full power of film

with "Citizen Kane" (voted "Best American Film of All Time earlier this

year)

- The producer of the show was John Houseman who went on to produce

several classic films as well as creating the Stratford Shakespearian

Company.

- Joseph Cotten went on to become one of Hollywood's top actors.(He

starred in "The Third Man" and can be seen chasing after Orson in HC)

- Scriptwriter Howard Koch retooled a cheap little script for a B-movie

entitled "Everyone comes to Rick's" (which was to star Roald Reagan and

Anne Sheridan).

When he was done , his film was recast with Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid

Bergman and retitled "Casablanca".

- Even "Ramon Roquello" found big time fame. His real name was Bernard

Hermann.

He composed the scores for the best of the Welles and Hitchcock films

(including that nerve shattering "Psycho" theme).

People interested in hearing the actual broadcast can hear it in Real

Audio at the following site:

http://earthstation1.simplenet.com/wotw.html

A few local radio stations rebroadcast the radio play every year. Check

out your local listings.

Some TV and cable stations are broadcasting the wonderful made-for-TV

movie "The Night That Panicked America" to commemorate the event. In

Canada, that film will be shown on the SPACE network at 9pm E.S.T.

This event is also credited with being the spark of the 1940s "saucer

scares" and the seed from which most of the "Alien" folklore emerged.

Happy Halloween.

Oct 31st is Peter Jackson's 37th Birthday.

Appropriate isn't it? Unfortunately for Peter Halloween was not a big

deal in NZ when he was growing up.

It was six years ago this week that I met Peter for the first time.

We are both Scorpios, born roughly a year apart. I was born on Nov 20th

1962.

This could explain why we hit it off so well.

Jean,

I honestly can't read through over 8 paragraphs without thinking

to myself "This guy could make a bundle just on writing a Welles

biography!" And what an awesome one it would be. Not to mention over 60

What I know of Orson comes from other bios already published. I had a

big

"thing" about the man ever since I was a kid.

Actually, I just got a brainwave and maybe someone can help me get my

mitts on an audio book.

"This is Orson Welles" is a four tape compilation of interviews with OW

conducted by Peter Bogdanovitch. It's sort of the audiobook version of

the Bogdanovitch bio. I once foolishly lent the tapes to someone who

moved out of the city. Anyone who can help me get another set will get

a

I just finished watching HC yet again, a few minutes ago.

As usual, I found myself wishing they'd spare poor Honora at the last =

As usual, they didn't.

BUT

As usual, I am completely overwhelmed by the brilliance of this damn =

movie.

And I appreciate having the privilege of sharing this strong common

The "dead body" is definitely the video edition.

Halfway through its theatrical run the image of Honora and the girls

walking in the woods was substitued for a dark figure in a coat and

hat.

I think that was supposed to be me (it's not).

Then , when the video edition came out, the poster went dark (I like

the

color scheme) and this dead girl was substituted instead of the walk in

the woods.

Market research probably showed that people who hadn't see the film

figured thought the image showed a picnic.

From Mr.Showbiz.com:

Sean Connery still has it. The 68-year-old

Oscar-winning actor was named the "sexiest actor" in

Britain in a recent English poll. The onetime James

Bond captured 32 percent of the vote, easily beating out

Hugh Grant's 13 percent. Rounding out the Top 5:

Ewan McGregor, The Full Monty's Robert Carlyle,

and Jeremy Irons.

In that same poll, Kate Winslet captured "sexiest

actress." The 23-year-old Titanic star edged out Liz

Hurley, Kate Beckinsale, and Helena Bonham Carter.

From the Bureau Statesman News:

A "Heavenly" Reunion

Director Peter Jackson and writer Frances Walsh have decided to take on

another project prior to tackling "The Lord of the Rings." Jackson and

Walsh

are the New Zealand based team that have brought many cult-hit films to

the

screen, such as "Braindead," "Bad Taste," "The Frighteners," and the

1994

true-crime/lesbian tendency/fantasy/thriller "Heavenly Creatures." In

"Heavenly Creatures," Jackson and Walsh introduced moviegoing audiences

to a

couple of new faces: Melanie Lynskey ("Ever After") and Kate Winslet

(two time

Oscar Nominee for "Sense & Sensibility" and "Titanic"). Lynskey and

Winslet

have agreed to star in the new film, set to begin filming early in the

new

year.

Walsh said that the story first attracted her to write the script

because of

its shocking nature and extreme absurdity. Jackson stated: "The

underlying

sexual themes between the two main characters have kept audiences

entranced

for three decades. Its a story that I've wanted to bring to the screen

since

I was a young boy." Lynskey was unavailable for comment but in a

statement

through her publicist is said to be delighted to reunite with her costar

Winslet and the Jackson/Walsh production team that started her feature

film

career. Winslet said: "Its absolutely the most intense script I have

ever

read. Its full of sexual repression, squashed dreams, and Frances

[Walsh] has

really outdone herself. Its a better script than "Heavenly Creatures."

Winslet is right. The script is a complex story of two women who are

seemingly in love with each other, but society will not let them be

together.

The story takes place in the sixties, with Winslet and Lynskey as the

two

lovers living together in an unforgiving blue collar Midwest American

town. A

bizarre story unfolds when two slimy would be suitors become suspicious

when

they are rejected by the couple. A young man comes to their defense

from the

unblinking community. The girls just want to live their lives, keep

their

jobs at the local brewery, and not bother anyone. But that would be

impossible. It ends in a bloody climax that is sure to turn stomachs

and

leave people contemplating their own prejudices.

Jackson said of the original version of the story: "It was my favorite

television show in my younger days. I've always wanted to make the film

version." He continues: "The day we bought the rights was the happiest

day of

my life. That was the day I knew my lifelong dream would come true. I

could

finally bring 'Laverne & Shirley' to the big screen." Jackson had

attempted

to buy the rights to the popular television show many times before, but

it

wasn't until now that he was successful. Winslet has stated that she

looks

forward to playing Laverne, having all of her clothes embroidered with

an "L"

on them. Lynskey has had her hair cut in Shirley's style and has been

spotted

wearing a small scarf in public. Winslet and Lynskey have been spotted

in

Milwaukee, Wisconsin touring local breweries and studying the Midwest

American

dialect. Set to play the roles of the slimy suitors, Lenny and

Squiggy, are

"Fargo" costars Peter Stormare and Steve Buscemi. Buscemi even stated:

"Squiggy was my idol as a kid." And the young man who comes to their

aid,

Carmine, is to be played by another "Heavenly Creature" cast member Jean

Geurin, who played Orson Welles in the film. Geurin said: "The

character of

Carmine is very complex. He loves these two women, yet he knows he can

never

have either one. But he chooses the chivalrous route and stays by

their side

to the bitter end." This could be a big break for Geurin, and after

some

initial readings with the rest of the cast, the smart money is on Geurin

winning an Oscar for his performance. The original television show was

a

spin-off of "Happy Days" and rumors abound of a cameo by Leonardo

DiCaprio as

Richie Cunningham and Alan Rickman as Arthur "Fonzie" Fonzarelli."

Jackson plans to shoot the entire film on location in Christchurch, New

Zealand. And the budget is reportedly around $60 million. Most of it

will go

towards computer generated special effects on Buscemi's and Geurin's

hair,

because no wig or hair stylist can get human hair that greased back or

curly.

Jackson said on returning to the location of "Heavenly Creatures":

"Both films

have similar themes; lesbian tendencies, sexual repression, unwanted

advances.

So its only natural that we return here to make it."

We here at the B.S. News are truly excited about the prospects of this

cinematic masterpiece. It will go down as one of the great

achievements in

film history.

I was getting ready to post my doubts about this "news item" as I know

from talking on the phone with Fran earlier today that they are

waaaaaay

too busy adapting a 300 page script from the 1200 page trilogy to even

consider another film. Not to mention handling the two kids.

It's a fine hoax. I had a good laugh.

One thing though: my name is spelled with the U before the E.

As far as the chivalrous route is concerned, I guess that means I

finally

get to play a character not unlike myself. I probably do more than

that:

I probably become the asexual guy who offers them emotional support and

becomes their shrink too- just like I do in real life :-)

hi everyone.

i'm doing a paper for school about "gothic architecture".

while doing research i came across a familiar word, it was one of the

names of

a church. i thought i had heard it before either in heavenly creatures

or

jude. does anyone on the list know if either jude or HC has any scenes

in a

"gothic" building? if it does, i was thinking of showing a scene to my

class

as a visual and as part of my oral presentation. thanks everyone...=)

Especially for you I'll paste Paul's halloween-joke at the bottom of

this email...you'll understand what got us all excited!

And, yes, I'm the one going to THe University of Tennessee, but I won't

be there in november )-: I'm leaving Holland the 2nd of January and will

be on campus in Knoxville the whole spring term. Anyone nearby Knoxville

that time of year?

I don't know your aunt, actually the only person I know is Jim Crook,

professor and director of the School of Journalism.

Do you, or anyone else, happen to know if Tennessee is very

conservative? And what about the campus? I had to answer the most

ridiculous questions, and the rules I read make me think of the fifties!

hehe

Okay, here's the joke!

American

dialect. Set to play the roles of the slimy suitors, Lenny and Squiggy,

are

"Fargo" costars Peter Stormare and Steve Buscemi. Buscemi even stated:

"Squiggy was my idol as a kid." And the young man who comes to their

aid,

Carmine, is to be played by another "Heavenly Creature" cast member Jean

Geurin, who played Orson Welles in the film. Geurin said: "The

character of

Carmine is very complex. He loves these two women, yet he knows he can

never

have either one. But he chooses the chivalrous route and stays by their

side

to the bitter end." This could be a big break for Geurin, and after

some

initial readings with the rest of the cast, the smart money is on Geurin

winning an Oscar for his performance.

Most of it

will go

towards computer generated special effects on Buscemi's and Geurin's

hair,

because no wig or hair stylist can get human hair that greased back or

curly.

Jackson said on returning to the location of "Heavenly Creatures": "Both

films

have similar themes; lesbian tendencies, sexual repression, unwanted

advances.

So its only natural that we return here to make it."

We here at the B.S. News are truly excited about the prospects of this

cinematic masterpiece. It will go down as one of the great achievements

in

film history.

Hi guys!

For those of you that don't know me(and those that do but don't

remember) I am a longtime lurker, occasional poster on this list. I

live in New Zealand, not Christchurch, but Dunedin, southwards by a

few hours, and where parts of Jude were apparently filmed. I'm 16 and

am almost finished 6th form at high school(which is one year more than

either Pauline or Juliet managed, which is a little odd for me) and

this year has been enormously full-on and pressureful, hence my

disappearance from the Internet almost entirely. But I just finished

my last exam and now all that's left is the long coast down towards

the summer holidays and my trip to Germany(Duisburg, for anyone

familiar with the area), so I can relax and get back into stuff like

this again.

Anyway, it's good to be back.

Hello Heavenly Friends--

Have to admit that Diello 833's prank was pretty clever...but not until
I got
done being disappointed that the reunion part wasn't true!

I spent Halloween night in the company of Tori Amos. (Okay, 15 rows
away from
her actually.) I mention this because I know there are a few fans on
this list.
It was a great show, but the band made for quite a different atmosphere
from her
usual "girl-and-her-piano"-type performance.

Good to hear from you Greer! When precisely will you be in Germany?
I'll be
near Freidrichshafen (sp) for the American Thanksgiving holiday through
the
first week of December.

Best regards,
Sharon

ChristChurch Cathedral certainly qualifies as Gothic.

Hi everyone!

Added a ForCor gallery to my site (you know,

http://www.geocities.com/Paris/Louvre/2332/lynskey.html Ah you

don't), but that's not why I'm writing! I just saw Mädchen in Uniform,

which I've been wanting to see... oh.. even earlier than HC... And

there is no way on earth PJ & Fran never saw it! They did, I mean it's

obvious, so many things... Anyway any self-respecting HC-fan has to

watch it, it is part of the HC-fan culture, god knows, but watch it

watch it watch it! Plus it's genuinely fun, which I wasn't exactly

expecting from a 1931 film shot in Germany... how this one made it

through censorship I wonder... Oh, and if anybody speaking German

could send me a translation of the poem Manuela can't remember when

Fräulein Brenburg asks her gto recite it I would very much appreciate

it! Well actually, a simple refernece would do. You know, who wrote it

+ the title and I can look it up on my own.

Bye!

Isabelle

"maidens in uniform" is referenced in "henry and june" which all

self-respecting creatures should go thou and rent (or buy) at once.

anais didn't write about pauline and juliet (though she could have) but

Hi everybody I'm new to the list so I thought I'd introduce myself. I'm

a 22

year old (though I'll be 23 on Sunday!) student in New Zealand doing a

Masters in Film and TV. The topic of my thesis is : The Films of Peter

Jackson, and in particular the constructions of a NZ masculinity and

feminity that go on in these films. Of course HC is one of Jackson's

films

so I can probably bring some insights to any discussion you want to do

around this topic. Also if anyone wants to talk offlist or onlist about

anything else relating to this I'm happy to do so.

Until next time .......

I did the exact same thing maybe a year and a half ago. We had to do a

Making you 4 years and two days younger than me -- I'll be 27 on

Friday.

Hmm, seems there's quite a lot of Scorpios on this list... me, Robert,

Jean... could it be our passion, sexiness and intensity that draws us to

HC ... hey hey hey LOL... :)

> Masters in Film and TV. The topic of my thesis is : The Films of Peter

Sounds interesting - although why is it always 'constructions of...'

these

days? First it was 'representations of...', then it was 'ideas of...'

and

now it's 'constructions of...'. What next, 'fabrications of...'? Hmm,

I

know someone who's just written a book on literary forgery, so perhaps

that is the next thing

So isn't it true that early Jackson films aren't constructed at all?!

OK,

I'm being flippant. Is it true that Braindead was originally going to

be

contemporary but that it was shifted to the '50s so that we don't reject

Lionel immediately as we might if he were a modern mummy's boy? I also

seem to remember that the character of Paquita is Spanish because PJ &

FW

liked Diana Penalver partly because of the possibility of Spanish

funding.

Do those kinds of things affect what you're writing?

Cheers,

Phil

It's true in a sense. Bad Taste began as a short and it just kept

growing

as they shot. Feebles was designed as a half hour but the japanese

backers kept asking for more.

Given those parameters, it's amazing they have the framework they do

have.

One thing is for sure, The Frighteners is very tightly constructed (the

climax is amazing) as is Forgotten Silver.

I suspect that Fran has a lot to do with that. Peter is a visualist and

a

bit of a loose cannon but Fran is very big on plot logic and

construction.

The work on LOTR is very meticulous. Fran is up to her ears in it. This

is not a trilogy that will happen over the years. It will be all

planned

in advance.

Hmm, I

>know someone who's just written a book on literary forgery, so perhaps

>that is the next thing

The reason this is the title at the moment is that I've just changed my

topic from doing a more general one on The New Zealandness of PJs films

to

being a more specific one just on masculinity and gender after I looked

at

what I'd written and found that if I continued as I was it would be

250,000

words instead of 25,000 words. We had to submit a working title to the

uni

so this is what we came up with. I'm going to change it but

"constructions"seems to be the hip intellectual word of the moment.

>So isn't it true that early Jackson films aren't constructed at all?!

That's what makes this thesis so interesting as I am able to compare PJs

early films which are more spontaneous with his later more "constructed

films".

>Is it true that Braindead was originally going to be

>contemporary but that it was shifted to the '50s so that we don't

reject

>Lionel immediately as we might if he were a modern mummy's boy?

As far as I'm aware they always intended it to be in the 1950s as the

other

coscripter alongside PJ and FW (whose name escapes me) wanted to make a

film

about the repressed 1950s in NZ. You might be thinking of an interview

where

PJ said he always has intended to make a zombie film but as far as I'm

aware

as soon as it got to the scripting stage it was always the 1950s.

>I also seem to remember that the character of Paquita is Spanish

because PJ

& FW

>liked Diana Penalver partly because of the possibility of Spanish

funding.

>Do those kinds of things affect what you're writing?

Yeah it was sort of due to the possibility of Spanish funding that

Paquita's

there though of course it sets up the contrast of the more "exotic"

Paquita

with the repressed and straightlaced NZers and thats why they've kept

her

there. It's sort of in this way that issues like that affect my writing

-

you know how they relate to the NZ aspects of the films.

Anyway i've got to go as I've an exam tomorrow so until next time ......

Ha! Another academic trying to understand HC! I'm also very interested

in studying HC and the Parker-Hulme case, in an historian's approach,

that is (although I actually study Ancient History...). That's what I

do, anyway. It's good to have one more person who's interested in this

kind of discussion. I'm really interested in your work, looking forward

to your dissertation ;)

BTW, since we're talking about this, have you ever read Glamuzina and

Laurie's book? If so, any opinions on it?

:*

Juliana.

PS: Feel free to visit the HC list members database in my page and send

us your info, if you like. (Hey other creatures! The ones who didn't do

it yet should do, too! :))

The decision to set BRAINDEAD in the 50s was made prior to scripting

the film was set in that period because of the relationship with mum.

Agh, I was about to piss in my pants. I thought no one else had ever

this movie. I had heard about Maedchen in Uniform from a book about

Marlene

Dietrich and then I saw Henry and June which featured the movie. And,

then I read books on Anias Nin...

read

this in Girlfriends or Curve)

...okay im typing a mile a minute...And the thing that makes me really

happy

is a friend ordered the video from Suncoast as a birthday present (she

adore old b&w movies). I still haven't gotten it yet because it's so

hard to

get. I found out alot of cool tidbits about this movie, like it was

one of

the films that Nazis banned and wanted it burned because of the

"lesbian"

content in it. In the version I saw a part of the film changed to all

of it

being dubbed to only parts of it. I know I haven't practiced my German

Moon Child? I guess that makes me (as well as all Scorps) a "Man from

Mars".

This could explain my obsession with "War of the Worlds", "Mars

Attacks"

and Marvin the Martian.

So, what's the reason behind this OT thread that makes everybody say

their signs? Hey, I couldn't miss that! ;P

I know not many are interested, but...

Sun on Aries (Apr. 3, 1977), ascendant (is this right it?) Leo, Moon on

Libra. (BTW, no other arians on the list??)

Kate is Libra (Oct 5) and Mel is Taurus (May 16), but you Scorpios

didn't lose yet: although Pauline is Gemini (May 26), Juliet is Scorpio

too (Oct. 28).

I got my Seventeen magazine in the mail yesterday. There's an article

on page

126 that says "Screen-agers" and it talks about movies about teenagers.

Under

the caption "girlfriends" it has HC and a little picture of them.

The gist: Pauline (Melanie Lynskey) and Juliet (Kate Winslet) retreat

into a

fantasy world. When their parents keep them apart, the girls decide to

murder

Pauline's mom. Based on a true story.

Friendship case study: Some friends can be inseperablyclose.

Well, it's FINALLY happened. HC is to be shown on Showcase again! :)

Monday, Nov. 9. 10:00pm

It took quite a while for it to be re-aired. I emailed them quite a

while ago. I wish they would update their webpage.

So anyone who wants to see it again, now's your chance. It'll be

interesting to hear the host's comments before and after.

In case anyone is wondering...

SHOWCASE is a Canadian cable network.

It's owned by Alliance who distribute HC (and all of Miramax) in

Canada.

They use shots from HC in their "Showcase Revue" promos.

Hiya everyone!!

Just to add my 2 cents to this, I went to an astrologer last week

simply coz I thought it'd be fuin and the charts she drew were also so

accurate, but my Draco chart was more pertinent to me. The really

interesting thing though was my Solar Rising which is another type of

chart and was so much like me it was scary!!! It tells what your year

will be like and from the outlook so far it it strangely true!!! ;-)

Oh and I'm also Scorpio!!! Should that be telling us something about

HC fans - incidentally Scorpios are renowned for their intensity and

strong, deep emotions and standing up for what they believe in - sound

familiar!!

Did you all know about eachother that you were scorpios? ...and there

are quite a few virgins too. hmmm... The tiny bit unbelief about

horoscopes and such that was left in me, is now totally gone.

This is just a little part of my chart (without birthtime):

> As a child, you enjoyed daydreaming, fantasizing, pretending, and

> probably lived in "your own little world" a good deal.

Now, does that sound familiar? (-:

Well, I thought people would like to comment on this, but anyway, here

it goes:

Juliet Hulme:

"You also have a powerful need for deep emotional involvement

and you form very intense love bonds and attachments. You are

possessive and often jealous of anyone or anything that you

perceive as a threat to your bond with someone you love."

"You merge with or "marry" the person you love at a very deep

level and therefore separations are extremely painful for you,

and often stormy and nasty."

"You tend to worship Heroes who have powerful

personal magnetism and charisma, and often seek to emulate them.

You also have both a fear of, and an intense fascination with,

death and the hidden, secret, dark side of life." [That's me too, BTW]

"You have mechanical ability and work well with your

hands. You could become adept at sculpture, pottery, carpentry,

stained glass, or anything that involves doing and making things

manually."

Pauline Parker:

"You live in your head a great deal - reading, observing,

thinking, spinning ideas around - and you need mental

stimulation every bit as much as you need food and drink. In

fact, if you had to choose between a good book or movie and a

good lunch, you would very likely choose the former. You have a

creative mind and often live by your wits."

"Writing or speaking are areas you have talent for."

"You are romantic and tender in love, and the remembrance of birthdays,

anniversaries, family rituals, and other days of personal

significance is very important to you. You seek caring,

emotional support, and security in love. You like to be needed,

to cherish and protect your loved ones, and you are somewhat

possessive of them."

"Ordinary life often seems drab and uninteresting to you and

you must have something that stirs your imagination, some vision

or ideal or dream to motivate you. You have a strong urge to act

out your fantasies or to live your dream, and you will DO things

that others only talk about or dream about. Artistic creation,

drama, or other areas in which you can express yourself

imaginatively are excellent for you."

And the most amazing of all:

"Restlessness and discontent with responsibilities and limitations in

life can be troublesome for you."

:*

Juliana.

Last night in Australia Sarah Pierse (sp?) was on Murder Call, an

Australian detective/cop show. She played a viola player who was in a

quartet and was a suspect to the murder of the first violin player.

She was good, as always (well I've only ever seen her in HC and this)

but she is a good actress.

I don't usually watch the show and it's not really that good.

But there you go. Sorry I couldn't tell you eariler (I only saw her on

the preview ten minutes before it started).

Jane~~

Just bought Empire today and noticed that Left Luggage will open

November the 13th in Britain. If you live in the UK and get the chance,

go and see it! I loved that film! Now that's no reason to watch it of

course but Isabella Rossellini has a wonderful part (that's a reason!)

and don't forget about Laura Fraser, playing philosophy student Chaja.

The settings are great also: early 70s, Antwerp, Hassidic ghetto.

Sorry to bother you with this, had to promote the Dutch filmmakers here!

(director Jeroen Krabbé ...ehh...yup, he also appears in Ever

After!...so it's not COMPLETELY OT after all...hehe. And screenwriter

Edwin the Vries)

Take care,

Hi all,

Took me a while to find the time to even read this and comment on

it...and all I can say is: amazing. Thank you for posting the most

striking parts of the charts Juliana, very interesting! Reading this,

it's almost like Peter and Fran used these (or maybe other) charts to

give depth to the characters.

Were there also parts in the charts that were not correct at all? (as

far as we can be the jugde of that of course)

Take care,

Marloes
