My name is Desiree Mae. I was first inflicted with Mehendi Madness in the small town of Brattleboro, Vermont in January of 1997. Snowed in with nothing but the warmth of my wood stove and the comforting sounds off the  TV it slipped into my tiny apartment while I was unaware. The TV show Extra was doing a segment on Mehendi and how it was taking over the Los Angeles, CA area. After that I could think of nothing else. I would even dream about it. So, finally I decided to do something about it.
    The next thing I knew I was throwing on my snow boots and I was set out to search the small town of Brattleboro for anyone who knew anything about this disease. After talking to just about every shop owner or person in the area I was lead to the local Tobacco shop which had formerly been an Indian spice shop. The man who was there hooked me up with some bulk henna and vague instructions. That's when the Madness really started...
    The rest is history.
