Station History
Current Station 86 was originally Station 7, (which is located in unincorporated county area formerly known as West Pittsburgh and now officially known as Bay Point), and was part of the Mt. Diablo Fire Protection District that consisted of fire stations in the Clayton, Concord and Pacheco areas. It stay Station 7 when the Contra Costa County Consolidated Fire Protection District was formed in 1964 with the combining of Mt. Diablo Fire Protection District stations with the stations from Central Fire Protection District which covered the areas of Walnut Creek and Pleasant Hill.

Contra Costa County Consolidated Fire Protection District continued to grow with the consolidation of Mountain View Fire Protection District, (1 station) in December 1, 1966, Martinez Fire Department, (3 stations) in July 1, 1968, Lafayette Fire Protection District, (3 stations) in January 1, 1969, and Briones Fire Protection District, (1 station) in November 1, 1971.

Then in 1975, the Riverview Fire Protection District was created. This district was the consolidation of Pittsburg Fire Department (2 stations), Antioch Fire Department (3 stations), and CCC Consolidated Fire Station 7. Station 7 became Riverview Fire Station 6. In 1982, in accordance with the county master plan of fire station numbering, Riverview Fire Station 6 became Riverview Fire Station 86.

In July of 1994 Riverview Fire Protection District, West County Fire Protection District, Contra Costa Consolidated Fire Protection District were dissolved forming the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District.
