What started out as a hobby has blossomed into Three Star Press, a publishing company that specializes in books and other publications on Tennessee historical subjects.
Even as a child, I loved reading about such figures as Andrew Jackson, David Crockett, John Sevier and even Adam Huntsman. (You don't know who HE is? Then you need to read his biography The Peg-Legged Politician!) In school I enjoyed writing term papers and essays on American History (the longer the better!) because it was the only outlet for my writing.
I worked at a copy shop while in college and had the opportunity to learn the ins and outs of copy quality and layout. There were some customers who wrote their own "homemade" books and brought them into the store for copying and binding. What an idea, I thought! There was one particular gentleman who was retired and loved researching, writing, and laying out his own books and donated them to the local library for other researchers to read and utilize. I thought this was a great idea and I was hooked!
My favorite subjects have always been of the local history variety, although I am now working on a book on my other passions: the St. Louis Cardinals and minor league baseball. The book, entitled Cardinals in the Bushes, will be published in Spring 2001.
I am currently at work revising a few of my other books such as Hurst's Wurst: Col. Fielding Hurst and the Sixth Tennessee (US) Cavalry and The Peg-Legged Politician: The Life of Adam Huntsman. There will be updates posted on when these revised editions will be available.
This website is brand new so there is still a lot of information that will be posted in the coming weeks. I invite you to bookmark it and check back from time to time! |
