People From Bondage Ministry was formed in 1992 by Kenneth E. Fetzer. He was a non-denominational Christian homeless missionary for three and one half years living on the streets of Vista, CA. He and his Wolf-Dog Angel walked three to twenty miles a day helping whoever they could. He slept behind buildings and anywhere he could without breaking the law. Ken formed this ministry while living under these conditions.
While living on the streets he did many things for the community. He organized the homeless to clean up the freeways with the Lions Club, to paint over graffiti on businesses, and to clean up the railroad tracks. He was one of the organizers of the Vista Census/Survey of the homeless. The operation consisted of 41 residents including some homeless. They broke Vista into 17 sectors and found there were 965 homeless in Vista alone.
He was also on many homeless coalitions with other agencies working on the homeless situation. Ken was one of seven people who volunteered and was accepted to be on the Oceanside Housing Commission Sub-Committee Homeless Task Force which met two days a week from 7:00pm til midnight for several weeks to find a location and ways of implementing an inclement weather emergency shelter, thus, the homeless had a shelter for the winter. Many lives were saved and changed.
P.F.B. purchased air time on a local radio station, which Ken hosted. They named the show "The Ken Fetzer Show". The purpose of the show was to bring public attention of the homeless situation (causes, affects, and solutions). The show only lasted for three months due to lack of funds.
