McCutchen Family Reunion
Champoeg Park, 40 miles south of Portland, September 1, 2001

This year we held the reunion on Labor Day weekend and decided we sure wouldn't do that again! As you can see from this photo, very few people were able to come and camp. The accommodations were really great tho. Room for 10 RV's, a covered meeting area, restrooms nearby, the works. It is so nice, I'm sure we'll want to come here again, especially now that we know how to get the group area when we want it! (It took Art Lettenmaier three tries before some clerk took pity on him and told him how to beat the system!) |
But just because not many people camped there doesn't mean that not many came. We had a good crowd. Many people showed up for the day. This is the Gregg contingent, Paul and Bruce and some of their family. They drove up in Bruce's mini van and I thought they were never going to stop getting out of it! Bruce and Alice were our distance travelers this year, by the way. Up from Southern Cal by way of Goldendale, where Paul lives. Sarah Marie's daughter was our youngest this year. |

Roy McCutchen was a distance traveler too, although he lives in Everett. He stopped by on his way north from a week in California helping a friend clean up a house to sell. We missed his family, but sure were glad he was able to fit us into his schedule! Marie Emerson was one of the campers. |
This young man came with his family in another very full car. (Someone help me here with names, please!) He is now a high school senior but he just returned from a summer bootcamp. When he graduates, he will go right into the military. |
We did a lot of visiting and catching up. And of course, we did a lot of eating too! |
We didn't have a lot of kids this year, especially at first. And so the ones we did had to find their own entertainment. This is Bill Hooper'sdaughter. |
Elmer Hooper and Robert McCutchen were the oldest this year, with Robert beating Elmer out by about a year. |
Helen Buell and Bruce Gregg caught in a laugh. |

Art Lettenmaier chaired the meeting since president, Bob McCutchen, wasn't there. We elected Paul Gregg president for the next year and chose Roy McCutchen to be Vice President just in case. I stayed on as Secretary Treasurer. We voted to hold the reunion in Wenatchee next year, at a park near where my daughter, Leanne Bodewig, lives. This is a photo of that park. After the meeting, several of us discussed holding the NEXT reunion near Yacolt, to include a pilgrimage to the old homestead and perhaps a train ride. |
