By the end of the l8^th century has emerged and developed a factory manufacturing iron and steel of a ver high purity. By the end of the l9^th century, after having conquered many internal and external markets, Cugir started to make steel for tools and implicitely they produced tools, equipment and machine component parts, as well.

    Over the years, the factory has been modernized and starting with 1948 they began manufacturing single-spindle drilling machines, then universal grinding machines, internal and surface grinders, tool-grinding machines, universal milling machines for tool-maker's shops. These have been the early bases of the machinetool productior which have carried the company's trademark and name all over the world.

    Since 1940, the enterprise starts producing the first industrial sewing machines and from 1948, the first household sewing machines are made.

    Time has gone so that today, the U.M. Cugir is an industrial giant endowed with special techniques and skilled pesonnel due to which it is now an undeniable leader in fields of production such as machine-tools and electric household appliances.
