Our Summer Itinerary:
|
Mariah Kaylea Heberer was born 3/3/99 to Jim and Dotty Heberer. |
Steve Heberer and Jennifer Fitzgerald e-mailed to say they'll be getting married soon! It will be a small private ceremony. |
The father of Erin Jenkins (my sister Katy's father-in-law) died the week before Christmas. Our prayers and thoughts are with you. |
Stephanie Poole-Heberer Does anyone know where she is? She was an infant when her father Bob Heberer died. |
Patience please! This web-page (my first attempt, self-taught, started December 1998) is constantly under construction. |
Hi, my name is Ray Heberer III. We live in Taipei, Taiwan, where I am one of several band directors at the Taipei American School (TAS). Check out some of the music from the Cultural Convention held March 1999 at TAS. Here's the weather in Taipei.
I am the eldest of Ray H. Heberer and Beatrice Conrad-Heberer's eight children. I am also the eldest of the 44 Heberer and Conrad grandchildren. (If we were a traditional Chinese family I would be accorded much respect, and inherit EVERYTHING! But not in this lifetime...)
Here's links to different branches our our family: the Heberers, the Conrad clan, and the Biesanz clan.
Someday we'll build a home on our 4-acre "Enchanted Forest" near beautiful Calpine (pop. ~250) in northern California's Sierra County. Sierra County does not have a single traffic light or fast food franchise, and we like that! Calpine is located on the edge of the Tahoe National Forest.
I've always loved the woods! My undergraduate education was financed fighting forest-fires throughout California. During (and after) graduate school I worked as a fire lookout at Saddleback Lookout (with Mei-Hwa), Duncan Peak Lookout, Babbitt, and Verdi LO on the TNF, as well as Big Hill LO and Bunker Hill LO on the Eldorado National Forest. Lightning is one of the more exciting aspects of lookout work. (These great lookout and lightning photo links were taken by my friend Mike Gates, whom I introduced to lookout work in 1985.)
Here's some more links (don't forget to come back!):
Heberer Music Editions, great jazz charts published by my brother Joe, the composer for the US Navy Band at Annapolis.
TAS Band Directory,
created by my students
Web pages of my students. They know more than us old folks! (Tell me if they do anything inappropriate!)
Sirens Concert Band, a good community band in Taipei, where I play Bass Trombone & Euphonium for fun.
Sierra Buttes Lookout about 11 miles away ("as the crow flies")
Do you like music? (of course you do!) Would you like to contribute to our retirement fund? (of course you would!) Well, if you click this oval icon you can order CD's and I get a teeney-weeney commission! COOL! Try it!
You are our honoured guest number:
(I'm probably my most common visitor...)
