Nate Calhoun was elected as Vice President of the Indian Hills Student Senate last Tuesday, making for an historic event for the IHCC/BVU Government and Political Awareness Club, as Calhoun is the first GPAC member to be elected to the student body's representative entity. "I'm pretty excited by winning and I want to thank all of those who voted for me," Calhoun said shortly after receiving notice that he had been victorious. He also went on to say that he would work hard with the other Student Senate officers to better please the hard-working student body at IHCC. The vice-presidential race was the only actual contest, as the presidential and secretarial races each only had one nominee running. Natalie Selgrade, the current Student Senate secretary, was elected as President and Jessica Stroud was chosen by the voters to be Secretary. All three officers will take their respective offices at the beginning of next fall term. "This is an historical event, not only for the GPAC, but for all of IHCC as well," noted GPAC President Derek White. "This shows that we are quickly becoming a more powerful voice on campus every week that goes by. Our membership is deeply devoted to political leadership and aiding the IHCC and BVU student bodies. I personally believe that Nate is only the first of many future Student Senate officers that are also GPAC members!"
