"Colleen! I gotta get ta school," Brian wined as Colleen opened the door to the clinic. "Brian, ya won't be late. I can give you a note if you are so Mrs. Morales doesn't get mad. Right now I need you to help me with Katie." Colleen repremanded while setting her medical bag and hat on the examining table so her arms wouldn't be so full of things, besides Joseph, that is. "Good morning " Andrew greeted as he came from the hallway that led to the recovery rooms "Morning, Andrew," Colleen smiled as hse placed a wide awake Joseph in the crib. "Andoo!" Katie giggled and kicked her feet as she was sitting atop the examining table. "What do?" Andrew laughed at his sister-in-law. "Cleaning up in case your Ma and Pa come here this morning." "Ma??? Papa??? Katie's eyes grew wide at the mention. "Yeah Katie, they are comin' ta get ya later." Brian informed his little sister. He looked at the clock on the wall. "I gotta get going.. I will be back for lunch." "Ok thanks Brian.. oh and I think we are all eating at Grace's so meet us there," Collen called. "Bye Biiiaaaann!" Katie waved her little fingers as Brian started to run out the door. "Brian! Don't slam!!...." Colleen warned. Too late, the door slammed shut and Joey wailed from the crib frightened by the loud noise. "the door!" she finished her sentence as she picked Joe up in her arms and rocked him to soothe his cries. "Katie, you have to stay clean. Mama and Papa will be here soon!" Andrew laughed sweetly while grabbing the spoon from Katie just before she was going to spill applesause all over her dress. "Kay. Prowmis. Andoo." Katie said as she willingly let go of the spoon. Matthew chuckled at the scene playing before him as he sipped his coffee. "I don't see you trying to help me out here, Matthew," Andrew joked when he saw Matthew laughing. "Hey, I volunteered, but you wouldn't hear it. You're on your own now!" Matthew held up his arms. "You get what you asked for Andrew, he's right about that," Colleen joined in while holding a curious Joseph. "They're comin!" Brian ran up breathless. He leaned on the table trying to catch his breath. "I... I was comin' and I saw them as I reached..the.. bridge..ran..as fast.. as I could..before they..saw me." "Settle down Brian. Thanks for the warning, but it's not like it's a surprise!" Matthew smiled. "Hurry up Brian! Sit down before they come or they will know that we know they are here!" Colleen instructed pulling out a chair for Brian. Michaela held Sully's had tight as they made their way to Grace's. No one was the clinic so Grace's would be the next most likely place to look. Sully stopped abruptly. "Michaela look," he wispered into her ear and pointed towards a table. Michaela smiled. The children were laughing and smiling. "It looks like they are enjoying themselves." "I guess that means they didn't have such a hard time after all," Sully replied. "Come on." Sully pulled Michaela forward as they made their way to the table. "Hello everyone!" Michaela greeted with a smile as she reached the side of the table. "Hi Ma!" Brian greeted, still a little winded. "Ma! Papa!" Katie couldn't sit still, bits of food flying everywhere. "Oh Katie, my sweet girl, I've missed you!" Michaela picked up her daughter and gaver her a hug. "Iss ya too!" Katie gave Michaela a kiss on the cheek. Michaela set Katie back down into the high chair and turned to her son in Colleen's arms. "Joey!" Michaela exclaimed as she held out her arms to hold her baby. Colleen graciously handed over Joseph to her Ma. Michaela kissed him on the forehead and cradled him in her arms. "How was he?" She asked curiously. "Real great Ma. He liked the bottle." Colleen informed her mother. "And how was Kates?" Sully, now holding Katie in his arms, tickled her, making Katie gigle. Katie looked like Michaela whenever she laughed. "Well behaved," Andrew stated simply. Matthew and Brian exchanged looks that said otherwise, and laughed under their breath. Michaela saw her two sons snicker and the remark. "Alright you to, be honest.. how was it?" Michaela asked curiously. "Aww.. Dr. Mike.. Katie wasn't so bad.. she can be a trouble maker at time," Matthew started. "At times? For you.. what about me?!?! I was the one that had to put up with her!" Brian interrupted.Everyone laughed at Brian's burst. Michaela looked worried. She wondered if something did go wrong. Sully saw the worried look Michaela was trying to hide. He knew Michaela wouldn't speak up, so he would for her CONTINUED |
