I like living in Manitoba because there is sooooo much to do!! In the winter you can go skating and tobogganing. You can build snowpeople and have snowball fights. In the summer you can go swimming, and play outside without having to get all bundles up with ski pants and boots…etc…! In Gimli there is shopping galore! Then there is the Icelandic festival in the summer. In Brandon there is always something going on in the Keystone Centre. In Winnipeg there is the house of Louis Riel. Or you could go to the Forks where there is the Children’s Museum, the Manitoba Theatre for Young People, the Manitoba Centre, and lots of shopping and restaurants. Don’t forget the town of Souris. The swinging bridge there is a lot of fun.
Candace

In Manitoba there are some great campgrounds. My favourite is Lilac Resort. Lilac Resort is located close to Winnipeg. This campground has a lot to do there, such as waterslides, paddleboats, mini golf, a two men bikes. In the morning you can fish. Lilac Resort has lots of great activities for everyone in your family.

Winnipeg and Manitoba are fun places to live in because:

- There are lots of malls and places to shop.
- The farmers usually have successful crops.
- A lot of celebrities come from here.

The reason I like living in Winnipeg is because we have things that other countries don’t have. We had the 1999 PanAm games last year. We have white Christmases and cold ones too. Another reason is because we have freedom. Freedom to be ourselves. That’s why I like Winnipeg, Canada.
Carly

Did you know that in Manitoba there is a plaque? This plaque represents the middle of Canada. The plaque is east of Winnipeg. In Manitoba there are three big lakes: Lake Manitoba, Lake Winnipeg, and Lake Winnipegosis. Manitoba is mainly flat land.
Kelsey

I like living in Manitoba. There are really fun places to camp. In some campgrounds there are taps for water, bathrooms and electric plugs. If you really like camping, there are also places without taps and power…not even a bathroom. The lake water in the summer is not cold, not hot, but warm.
Lauren

I like Manitoba because I was born here. There is lots of fun stuff to do. If you come in the winter, you can skate, toboggan, go to the Festival du Voyageur, and a lot of other fun things. If you come in the summer you can go to the lake and go fishing. I like going to the Forks with my family. There are always fun activities going on at the Forks. I also like going to Gimli because my auntie’s cabin is there. Manitoba is my home!!!

What I really like about Manitoba is winter. In winter there is lots of snow and I love snow. The water freezes too. I can only do my favourite sport in the winter because my favourite sport is skating. You can go outdoor skating on frozen water or you can take indoor skating lessons. There are other winter activities that I like to do. Here are some of them: tobogganing, snowball fights and skiing. Winter is my favourite season of the year.
Lisa

In Manitoba there are many things to do and see. You can see the Royal Winnipeg Ballet, the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra, the International Children’s Festival, the Folk Festival and Octoberfest. You can also go to the Forks and watch the Winnipeg Goldeyes play baseball. Winnipeg has the Imax and two Silver City movie theatres. There is the Golden boy on top of the Parliament Building.
Abby

I like the Forks in Winnipeg. On holidays, there are fireworks and exhibits. In one of the big buildings there are all sorts of restaurants and markets. In another big building there are stores. One of the stores I like is the giant toy store and an antique museum. The last building is the Children’s Museum. You have to pay to get in. There is a big tree, a train, a new water works exhibit, and lots of other things.
Erica

There are lots of fun things to do in Winnipeg like swimming and hiking. In summer it’s very hot. That is when it’s good to go swimming and hiking. In the spring it is nice to go for long walks. In autumn it is nice to rake the leaves and jump in them. In winter, you can play in the snow, go tobogganing and go skating. It’s really fun here in Winnipeg.

One of the many places to go to is the Winnipeg Arena. Our hockey team, the Manitoba Moose, play there. Fort Whyte is a good place to get in touch with nature. There are lots of nature trails and neat stuff to do. Another cool place to go is the Children’s Museum. There are tons of games and things to see. Those are a few things in Winnipeg that are neat.
Stephen

I like Manitoba because there are lots of neat and cool animals like polar bears, beavers, moose, caribou, geese, deer, and a lot more! All these animals live in the wild but you can see the deer and geese right on your back porch even in the city.
James

I like where I live. I live in Manitoba. Manitoba has lots of malls. The malls in Manitoba are great for shopping. Manitoba also has lots of fun stuff to do other than shopping, like going to the park and taking a walk.
Sarah

Winnipeg is a sake place to live in. Winnipeg is in the middle of Canada so it won’t have any earthquakes. It has no volcanoes, hurricanes, and very few tornadoes. The worst thing Winnipeg has are blizzards.
Corbin

I like living in Winnipeg because of our winters. In winter you can do all sorts of ice sports or snow sports like hockey. In Manitoba some people call winter “hockey season”.
You can do snow sports like skiing or snowboarding. You can go skiing or snowboarding at Spring Hill and other neat places. I also like living in Manitoba because of our lakes. There is Lake Winnipeg, Lake Manitoba and lots more. They are so beautiful to see especially when you go on a boat ride.
Dana

I like living in Manitoba because there are lots of interesting places to go and things to do. Near Thompson, there is a lake called Paint Lake. In the campground there, there are some very good campsites. In Thompson, there is a zoo that’s free. It’s not as good as some zoos because you don’t have to pay anything but it still has some good animals. In Winnipeg, there’s the Forks. It’s where the Red River and the Assiniboine River meet. Every year on New Year’s Eve, there’s a bit of a party thing at the Forks.
Heather

In Winnipeg there are lots of sport teams. There are the Manitoba Moose, the Winnipeg Goldeyes, and the Winnipeg Cyclones.
James

Winnipeg is good because there is a lot of snow. There is over 100 cm of snow that falls each winter. Some of you may think it’s a lot of snow, but if you live here for a long time, you get used to it. As you can probably tell I love snow. Do you know how long the snow stays? Most of the time it stays from November to April.
Kaitlyn

In Manitoba we don’t have disasters. The only disaster we have had is floods. No real tornadoes, hurricanes, or earthquakes. The most serious flood we had was the flood of the century. I’m sure you have heard of it. The flood took place in 1997.
Travis

In Manitoba there is a town called Gimli. Gimli is a really fun place to go to. I go to Gimli to shop. The shops that are there are really neat. During the summer people go to Gimli for the Icelandic Festival. It’s a festival with rides, food, and games. My family goes there every year.
Ashley

Winnipeg is a really great place because of all the sports, activities, and because it’s pretty safe. There are no hurricanes or earthquakes. I like the sports. I can go play soccer, hockey, baseball, football, badminton and all others when I play. They’re always organized. Winnipeg is also a great place because of the weather. The weather is hot in the summer and cold in the winter.
Kevin

The climate of Winnipeg has four seasons. The four are spring, summer, fall, and winter. During the spring the snow is just melting and it is very muddy. The summer is hot. You usually go to the beach. Nice beaches are Lake Winnipeg (very cold), Grand Beach, and Patricia Beach. During the fall it is a little cold and it usually snows Halloween. In the winter the snow can get to 2 feet. Very cold!! I’d dress warm!! The capital of Manitoba is Winnipeg – a great place for tourists. Some places to visit are the Legislative Building, the Royal Winnipeg Ballet, the Planetarium, the Concert Hall, the Forks, and the great malls. Don’t miss out great parks – Assiniboine Park, Kildonan Park, and La Barriere Park.
