The Beginning

Long ago there was a kingdom by the sea. But this was no ordinary kingdom for here it wasn't only humans who oversaw things, but the animals and faeries and other creatures as well and they all lived together in perfect peace. The kingdom was ruled by a king who was fair just to all his subjects. The king ruled for a very long time and then one year became sick. He suffered for many months and at last he died. But although the king had married once, his wife had died young and they had no heir for the kingdom except for the king's sister.
