Licensed family daycare differs greatly in its approach from center-based childcare. For me, the greatest difference is that we strive very hard to make this feel like home. Making a daycare that is strictly regimented and rigid would be far easier, since I wouldn't really have to think much about what I was going to do from day to day, but I do not feel that this is in the best interest of the children I care for.
I feel that there is a great deal that can be done to improve the world we live in by simply teaching our children love, honesty, respect, and responsibility. We strive to do that daily, not with lesson plans and writing assignments, but with real-life experience that teach the children self-control and ownership of their deeds.I believe that the best way to see that this happens is in a home-like setting. |
