| "Crooked Space- A
largely unexplored region near the edge of explored space. It remains largely
unexplored due to the fact that it poses an unusual hazard to ships that
enter the area. Strange gravimetric phenomena, theorized to be caused by
remnants of a massive system of interconnected black holes, cause the normal
laws of physics to be twisted slightly out of shape. The result is the
frequent occurences of events that would seem impossible in normal space.
Another interesting local phenomena is the recurring instance of objects
seemingly appearing out of nowhere, and dissappearing a short time later.
Or vice versa: objects disappear than show up later either in their original
location or somewhere entirely different. The inhabitants of this area
seem strange indeed. There are a number of indiginous races, and many outsiders
come to this unusual area. It is widely recommended that this region should
be avoided if one is in a hurry. Although most of the ships that enter
Crooked Space return, they may be delayed or, more seriously, may undergo
changes that are only irreversible in the realm of Crooked Space. The Crooked
Space Tourism Board boasts that 'Anything can happen . . . in Crooked Space'.
Truly unique, it is considered one of the 'must-see' places in the quadrant."
