Electric rails in the city

At the beginning of the 1900's the hottest new thing was the interurban, electric single vechiles on or by the roadside more frequent than the train and fastest than anything on roads. This one is in Vancouver,British Columbia and links the science museum to the maritime museum.

This tram from Osaka in Japan is seen by a mural in Edmonton in Alberta, Canada. On its journey to the Alberta parliament buildings it will cross the highest trolley bridge in North America.

Many cities which once had electric trams are bring back "Light Rapid Transit".Calgary was one of the first with only six years between the end of trolleybuses and the openig of the new line.Travelling to the Calgary Stampede grounds on this journey we rode on city streets ,underground and on the surface.Banff trail is the steepest rail journey in Canada.

Edmonton Klondyke days see the use of three units coupled together, here crossing the North Saskatchewan River by the Glenora Skating rink.This brand new, being extended line adds to the fun of travelling in Edmonton.
