Savage Garden

This band happens to be one of my favorites.. They're current album is self-titled:

Right now, I'm still trying to find current news, and I'm not going to put up anything unless I know it's accurate.

Daniel Jones
Daniel was born in England, believe it or not, but when he was young he moved to Brisbane, Australia with his family, which includes 2 older brothers. He attended Shariler Park High, but dropped out of 10th grade to pursue his musical career. I'd say if he keeps it up, that wouldn't be a TOTALLY bad choice.. He is single and his musical influences are XTC, Gabriel, Tears for Fears, George Michael, and Sheryl Crow.

Darren Hayes
Darren was born in Brisbane on May 8th, 1972. He attended Mabel Park High and married his High School Sweetheart, Colby Taylor. He has one older brother and one older sister, and his favorite place is NYC. He has black hair and blue eyes, even though he's a natural blonde. His musical influences are Prince, Fleetwood Mac and Diana Ross, but now he listens to stuff like U2 and Sarah McLachlan.
Releases:
"To The Moon And Back"

"I Want You"

"Truly Madly Deeply"

News:
Even since Daniel didn't show up at one of their recent shows, rumors have been flying around that he is quitting Savage Garden. Well, I have confirmed news that that is NOT true! He missed one of the shows and returned to Aussie because he was physically sick, not sick of the band.. Ok.. Everyone can breathe now..

As far as I know, the tour is over, but who knows! I'll get back to you with new releases and news when I get it! Now here's some info about the band straight from the guys!

The Band: Straight From The Guys
In 1992, Daniel had a band and needed a singer, so he put an advertisement in the paper and guess who showed up? Darren.
[Daniel] "We both knew it wasn't going to be too long before we were writing songs together away from the other guys in the band."
[Darren] "We were both incredibly ambitious. We really connected that year and there was a lot of positive energy and positive thinking in terms of us getting together. I think Daniel and I just shared a common goal: we were interested in the same kinds of music and the way that we wanted a handle, it was very similar."
They spent 2 years playing cover songs in clubs in Nothern New South Wales. Then, in '94, they decided to devote themselves to full time music.
[Darren] "I was a kid who always did really well in school. I was at uni, hopping between all sorts of different degrees. So I think a lot of people were shocked when I turned around and said, 'Hey, guess what? I'm deferreing all my subjects and I'm going to be in a rock band!' In the end, my family was nothing but supportive, and now they're our biggest fans. They kept every snippet of info on us."
[Daniel] "My parents know it wouldn't be long before we achieved something within music, but every now and then, I think it scared the hell out of them that it's actually happening, it's getting bigger every day and that things are really starting to open up - not just in this country, but overseas as well."
[Darren] "We literally decided we were going to get a record deal. We never once stopped to think about whether it would or wouldn't happen, or for that matter, how it would happen. On reflection, that was pretty suicidal, really, so I guess we are just incredibly excited and thankful to be at this point."
[Daniel] "To think that in the last year, we have made a record with some legendary as Charles Fisher and then mix the record with Chris Lord Algae, who's name we used to read on the Stones cover, is quite mind boggling for us. John Woodruff's involvement has been a great bonus, and then to see the early reaction to the record; it's been like you have to pinch yourself sometimes to see if you're awake."
"Savage Garden" came from an Anne Rice novel (author of "Interview With the Vampire" trilogy).
[Darren] "Anne talks about the world as a savage garden. There are two levels. One is beautiful, but in the other, underneath, we're all savage beasts. WE thought that was quite fitting - but we don't want to sound too phoney. It's all just pop music!"
[Daniel] "Originally, we had about 4 names. Like Dante's Inferno and Bliss. But every name we chose was already taken - it was really frustrating!"
Thus formed Savage Garden.. May their success continue in the U.S. as well as Aussie! Thanks guys!
