Echolation

Echolation is how dolphins travel because they have poor eyesite. Dolphins send out sounds such as squeaks, squeals, and clicking sounds. The sounds travel through the water and bounce off objects in the water. The direction of these echos and the time it takes them to return tells the direction and distance of objects. The dolphins can detect the changes in the returning sound and this helps them to find food and avoid anything that could be dangerous.
