Rowland, W. [1997]. Spirit of the Web: The Age of Information from Telegraph to the Internet. Toronto, Somerville House Publishing.

The authors/facilitators of the Spirit #5 book presentation are OISE/UT graduate students in CTL1606: Computers in the Curriculum instructed by Trevor Owen.

Gary Pieters is a grade 4/5 teacher, Kenneth McQueen is a grade 3 teacher, Doug Symington is a training developer and Jack Page is a secondary school teacher.

The book is divided into two sections: The Analogue Era and The Digital Era. Kenneth 'Curt' and Jack's presentations are on the analogue era while Doug and Gary's presentations are on the digital era.

The format for the discussions are summaries followed by discussion questions.

Each section provides a unique perspective on technology and the evolution of various forms of communications to the turn of the twenty-first century.
