Here it goes again "what's wrong with the National Team?" for the 3rd consecutive lost in a row, Peru seems to be saying good-bye to the World Cup, very unoptimistic, but realistic. A team that has lost six points at home cannot be good enough to qualify for a World Cup. Ladies and getleman, WE, all Peruvians around the world know the big problems our team has, we have to admit that, and also that PERU should change their way fo playing soccer, let's forget about playing nice, about giving a show to the aficionados, let's do what other teams do "score goals". This time I am not going to talk about the actual game itself, there's no need to reiterate what we all saw last night, that Colombia did the least to deserve to win, merit to them, that in the second half outplayed the Peruvians wisely, Colombia showed "wantedness" to win the match, on the other hand PERU looked confused, slow and no alternatives in the way they play. Why can't Peru come out with an avalanche of offensive power to openup the score just like the Paraguayns did to Brazil, why can't they fight for every centimeter the ball rolls like the argentinians *whom by the way danced out the Ecuadorians that look extremely terrible* why can't we win just like the ecuador beat us, or just like Bolivia beat Chile? I seriously belive in one theory which some people close to me know and take me as a fool, but let me tell you something, i stand by it, and that does not necessarily means i am ashamed of Peru. But here it goes: Well nowadays in modern soccer we all can see the physicallity of the game. It's no longer necessary to play "cute" or bonito, one must play hard, push alot, spit to the grass, and sweat every inch of the ball during the 90 minutes of regulation time. All of this is necessary in today's modern soccer, and all this requires endurance. |

Unfortunately in my country Peru, there have
not been players that are physical, meaning that are able to push their
opponent and at least stand to them. Yesterday we all saw how Roberto Palacios,
skillful but physically inferior, could not plug himself into the game,
his passes were not well-coordinated, and whenever he would try to create
a scoring oportunity he would be pushed off easily, this is what frustrates
me the most, i am sorry, but i really think that Palacios is done with
the national team, I want someone with the ability not to get pushed aorund,
someone to stand tall on it's feet and fight for the ball, on the ground,
air, or at arm wrestle. As far as Solano goes, i don't know i am ready
to put the blame on him yet, because although with his physical inferiority,
he demostrated a few sparks on the fields that created very good scoring
opportunities for Caludio Pizarro and Ysrael Zuniga. When KukinFlores substitued
in, Peru looked much offesinve, not that much changed but tactically different.
Even though i have to admit Peru could have won the game if not because
the horizontal post denied us.
Maturana needs to address the situation Palacios, personally his career in the National Team is done. |

Solano? well i think the STAR role has caught
up to him and that there is a need for someone to look up to instead of
Solano, he does not have the hunger inside of him, does not show game face,
he's attitude in the game is passive when it's supposed to be aggresive.
Sure I know, but he plays in England, WAIT A MINUTE....that's true, but
let's remember who's around him.......YEAHP, QUALITY PLAYERS FROM
NEWSCASTLE.....EXACTLY THAT's my point SOLANO, it's not TO make the base
of a team, but it's to bend to a core of a team, and ever since Solano
has become the sole core of PERU, he's soccer production have diminished.
I am ot saying that he should not be in the starting lineup, but that he
must be putted on the bench to show him that only productive players start.
If i keep bringing up players which have an inferior physicality, i won't be able to stop typing, but here it goes a few : "Maldonado, Ciurlissa, Huaman, Jhony Flores, Jayo" so as you can see, the problem lies in alimentation, what kinda of food do our players eat when growing up, are we giving them enough vitamins when they are on their early teens, what is becoming of our youth in Peru, we no longer see men like LaRosa, Cubillas, Barbadillo, Sotil, Chumpitas...why? well these men were physically adecuate for soccer, nowadays our players aren't. One player I would like to see it is Roger Serrano and Carlos "Kukin" Flores given the opportunity to start in the team, forget about the "argolla" *preference for players* and let's start those who really deserve to and give opportunities to others. I want to see "mACHITO" GOMEZ come back as well as "Chino" Huaman. for now this is it, i won't be going to "El Criollo" to see the URUGUAY-PERU match, i don't feel like it. any comments just reply to me.
