Bad Gas Station in Union City
If your ever need to get a smog check, fix a flat or even just get gas and you're at the intersection of Alvarado Blvd and Dyer, whatever you do, do not go to the Shell gas station. I was getting a smog check back in Dec. '99 and the guy said that my car didn't pass because the timing was off. He asked me if I wanted it adjusted, I asked how much, he said $20, I said ok. All he did was tightened one little nut on the distributor cap, ran it again and said it's ok now.
A few years later, a co-worker and I were talking about shops, I warned him about that Shell station...but it was already too late.
He had gone there a couple weeks ago and same thing but worse. Smog check, no pass, they wanted a few $100's to change the catalytic converter...so he takes it to a muffler shop and there's nothing wrong with cat. conv.

I've taken my '90 Si and '94 Rodeo to the Union 76 and have been satisfied with their work (for smog only). They're on the other corner (there's
also a Valero across from it).
Again, if you're at that corner, remember the yellow shell.
I last took the Si for a smog check at the 76 station on Whipple across from Target (just last month 1/04).

I'll cut the game story short...
so we agree on $175 with 2nd remote ($200 after +relay and tax)
After paying (2 hrs later not 1 hr), (older) guy #2 gives me only 1 remote
I start raising my voice, complaining about the 2nd remote...so I BS by saying that if I have any friends that were looking for a stereo I would refer them but not anymore. So then the manager gives me the 2nd remote.
Bad business practice = low customer value
I almost for got to mention that there were about 2 or 3 other customers that didn't seem happy cuz they too appeared to be waiting too loooong.
Suspension installation prices:
Wheel Works = $85 per corner (est. over phone)
Big O = $ can't remember but also expensive
My regular mechanic (Omega Auto) = $80 per (wouldn't even give me a break)
Guaranteed Mufflerrs & Brakes in Fremont = $200 (incl. alignment)
Race N Rock in Fremont = $150 (no align.)
MotorSport on Whipple in Hayward = $200 (incl. align.) is where I had my Tokico shocks & springs (purchased thru ebay) installed.
Had a bad experience with a shop or want to recommend one
