A very great thing that Prost did is that he gained his first point in his first ever Grand Prix.

His first win was held in the Grand Prix in France in 1981 with a Renault Elf.

His greatest rival in Formula One was the three times world champion, the Brazilian Ayrton Senna.

Alain Prost was the lightest ever Formula One driver. He weighed 61kg.

Below is a summary of his successful career.

His first championship of karts was held in 1975. He gained success in the Formula Renault Martini racing two years later. In 1979 he won the Championship of European Formula 3 and in 1980 he went up to Formula One racing. His first race was in a McLaren Ford in an Argentinean Grand Prix. In 1981 he went with Renault to gain 43 points in his only second championship. In 1982 he finished with 34 points and with the same team and two years later he came second in the championship.

In 1985 he gained the team of one of the most successful managers in Formula One, Ron Dennis. His team was McLaren. He won the his first championship that year and his second in 1996 too. In 1987 he came 4th in the championship and in 1988 he came 2nd. In 1989 his third championship came with the team of McLaren. In 1990 and 1991 he joined Ferrari, one of the most successful teams ever where he came 2nd and 5th in the championship. In 1992 he did not took part in the championship.

In 1993 he came back with the team Williams Renault to gain his forth and last championship with 99 points. In the last race of this season, in Adelaide, on the podium he shook hands with Ayrton Senna for a friendship. From this race till now, none of them went back on the podium. Prost retired while Senna died in an accident a year later in Imola with the Williams Renault. Was it coincidence or what?
