MATT'S SOCCER PAGE

             I played soccer for 9 years for the Boys & Girls Club in Anchorage,Alaska. 

I was on the Hornets team for 6 years. My coach was Harold 
Henry. He was the best coach in the world!! We were League 
Champions for 5 years. The summer of 1997 I played for the 
Boys & Girls Club on the "Reign" team.  My coach was Eric 
Holzshu. We were the League Champions for that year too.  
This year I also played Comp Soccer for the Cook Inlet Soccer 
League. I was on the Firebirds team.  I was the GOALKEEPER.  
My coach was Chris Cristello.  The summer of 1998 I played 
again for the Boys & Girls Club. Once again we were the 
League Champions!   This was my last year I played for the 
Boys & Girls Club because so many parents complained about 
Comp Boys playing on a Rec team that they changed the rules 
and banned Comp players.  This summer of '98 I also played on 
the AYSC Blast U14 team.  My coach was Tra Gaither.  In the 
summer of 1999 I tried out for the Northern Lights Dynamo U16 
team and made it!!  My coach was Steve Navokovich.  He was a 
really good coach.  The team took a trip to Fairbanks for the 
Midnight Sun Tournament.  It was lots of fun.  Then in July 
the team went to Seattle, Wash. for the Diadora Cup.  We came 
in 3rd. It was a great trip!!  Then in Aug. we went to 
Fairbanks again for the State Cup.  We came in 3rd again.  
Now in the fall of '99 I am on the Cook Inlet Kaos U16 (the 
old Firebird team)and my coach is Andrew Dietrick. I  love 
soccer and my goal is to be on the USA team and play in the  
Olympics.

IKO Tournament

July 13, 2000

        Today is the first day of the IKO (International Kickoff)Tournament. 
 Today we WON our first International Soccer Game.  
We played a Canadian team.  The score was 1-0.
