These 4 year old competitors have been randomized from their original order. Your challenge is to rank them by likelihood as a future showjumping star. Keep in mind that these are 4 year olds, mixed by breed, gender, and jumping experience. Some are green, while others have jumped all year. One horse scratched after the first day due to lameness, and another, though lame in the rear, continued through this third day. Therefore, there are 13 horses here to view.

I have chosen a three jump combination due to lighting, camera view, and file size limitations. The horses are shown from one reference to another so that you can compare file size as a relative indicator of time, although the real judges did not consider time in their evaluation. I could be off as much as a stride at either end of this 10 second sequence, which could account for a couple percent either way in file size. Turns were purposely omitted, as the radius of turn was not considered critical in a non-timed exercise. Hopefully this will be more a measure of the natural rider/horse combination over jumps.

If you mail me your opinion (via the reply macro on the index page), I will mail you back the horses' identities and the official results. After enough people reply, I will post who was closest to the judges, who agreed most with the average, etc.

This is not intended to be a criticism of the IJF judging -- it is for the interested horse lover to appreciate how tough it might be for anyone to predict a future star at age 4! Over the next couple years we can compare our opinions to performance, and then compare notes as to how we came to our decisions. Note that you are not given the benefit of a conformation round beforehand, and your view is not of very high resolution, so it is hard to recognize riders and horses.
