The Toronto Rock captured their second consectutive NLL Champions Cup when rookie Kaleb Toth scored with :01 left in the fourth quarter to give the Rock a 14-13 victory in front of a soldout crowd in Maple Leaf Gardens in the last Rock game ever in the Carlton Street icon.
The Rock had blown an early 3rd quarter 8-4 lead by allowing the Knighthawks to score the next five goals to give Rochester a 9-8 lead early in the fourth. The teams went back and forth, with ties at 11-11 and 13-13. The tying goal was scored by John Grant, with only 50.3 seconds remaining, on an incredible behind the back shot while being tackled in front of the goal.
The Knighthawks jumped out to a 4-2 lead, but allowed Toronto to score six consectutive goals.
This marks the Knighthawks 3rd defeat in four appearence in the MILL/NLL championship game. Two of those losses have now come on the last shot of the game. The previous loss was an OT loss to the Wings in 1995.
The Rock have now won 2 title in 2 appearence, and moved to a perfect 4-0 in playoffs action.
