The topmost teams in India are the Railways Team, the Maharashtra state team, the services team, and the Bengal team. There is fierce competition between these three for the National championship. The Railways team, comprising of many International players from Maharashtra and other states are the ruling champions.

In the juniors section(below 20 yrs.), the Maharashtra team is considered to be the best in the nation. They've been winning the gold for 7 consecutive years.

The All India Invitational tournaments are held in India twice or thrice every year. It is considered to be the most prestigeous tournament in India after the senior nationals. Few of the best clubs and teams in India battle it out for the championship.

Besides this, the inter -varsity and the school nationals are the other important tournaments held every year.

In spite of lack of enormous public support and big sponsorships, the popularity of the game is increasing gradually.
