Blessed with enormous skill and elegance, Nicole's talent has never been hidden. She first came into the spotlight in 1989 when, at 11 years of age, she finished second at the U.S. Novice Championships. During the 1994-95 season, it was a dream season for Nicole, She won her first U.S. Title and followed with a bronze medal at the world Championships a few weeks later.
Nicole grew up in Chicago and began skating when she was only three years old. Her mother got her skating lessons, she made Nicole practice the "SPRIAL" move on their living room floor. Like former Olympic silver medalist Nancy Kerrigan, Nicole's spiral is her trademark.
When she became a star after her 1995 national championship, Nicole was able to use her fame to help others with her special project. In her campaign called "Touching the hearts, raising the spirit" Nicole visits schools and hospitals in the United States to share stories about her life in skating and also helps out the ones in need. It is a side of Nicole that not many know about, she really loves helping others and seeing others happy makes her happy.
When she is finished skating, Nicole hopes to become a television broadcaster for figure skating and a choreographer. The 1998 skating season hasn't been too lucky for Nicole, she had a bit of bad luck at the Olympics, but since then she has fared quite well, finishing top three four times during the 1998 season.
