Holiday in Namibia
Holiday in Namibia
My Pizazz with the "Spitzkoppe" in the background. These mountains are huge granite rocks, with very little vegetation and wildlife.
Using my 3-D as a buggy engine!! This was Peter Hugger's comment on seeing the picture. Actually, it is an old steam tractor that the Germans imported via Swakopmund. It only managed about 10km inland and got stuck in the desert sand. The name is from the famous quote by Luther "Here I stand. I cannot go any further".
Playing with a Beetle on "Langstrand" close to Swakopmund. Langstrand is a small holiday resort that mushroomed into existence a couple of years ago.
The Beetle playing in the shallow water. Unfortunately the photographer didn't take pictures of the water dips and take-offs.
A beetle being sandblasted away (notice the one straight leading edge)in the red dunes of the Namib desert. These dunes are the highest in the world and is constantly blown into different shapes.
Myself being blown away trying to keep the Box of Tricks under control. Needless to say, it took me quite a while to get all the sand out of my hair and ears.
After about 5 minutes of lying on the sand, the wind has already started covering the kite up with sand.
I tried to hold the two kites on both sides of me, but the wind was way too strong and this was the best I could manage.
