Simon Says Championship!

Some people would call the 1997 NCAA tournament a fluke...others would call it, Arizona showing what they can do. That's exactly what they did when they upset three number one seeds on their road to the championship. The Kentucky game was won in the backcourt. Arizona had Miles Simon and Mike Bibby making up the best backcourt tandem in the nation. During the first half Simon told his teammates, "They can't stop me." He went on to score 30 points and be named MVP of the final four. 14 of his points came from the free throw line, where he spent most of the night thanks to his shoulder dipping up and under move. "I can't believe they kept falling for the same trick," said Arizona forward Michael Dickerson. Bibby added 3 3-pointers, 3 steals, and 19 points. He is said to be the first freshman ever to lead a team to the national championship.
A couple of quotes from the final four game with Kansas:
"Arizona has just pulled off the biggest upset of this tournament."
Miles Simon said: "Everybody already had them cutting down the nets, but the Arizona road block got in the way."
Cogratulations Wildcats!
