Click Here to Check it Out Packers News Harris Signs 3 year Extension 3/17/99 Bernardo Harris has signed a 3 year extension worth $7 million. The starting middle linebacker for the Packers also received a $2 million signing bonus. Harris finished 2nd on the Packers in tackles last season with 106. In 1997, Harris was first on the Packers with 119 tackles. Green Bay now has all three of their starting linebackers signed through the year 2001. Instant Replay Approved 3/17/99 The NFL competition committee has approved instant replay for the 1999 season. After several calls that would have turned games in the other direction the committee finally decided that instant replay was once again needed. 28 of the 31 teams approved instant replay. Too bad instant replay wasn't enacted this past year, Green Bay wouldn't have been screwed out of the San Francisco divisional playoff game. Compensatory Picks 3/16/99 Today the Packers received 4 compensatory draft picks for free agents lost last year. The Packers lost 7 players last year but could only receive the maximum 4 picks for their losses. Last years free agency period saw Earl Dotson, Eugene Robinson, Doug Evans and Gabe Wilkins leave for other teams. GB received 1 pick in the 3rd round, 2 in the 4th and 1 in the 6th round. New Stadium? 3/2/99 Packers President Bob Harlan says that the Packers are looking to get a new stadium within the next 10-12 years. Harlan said that Lambeau Field is structurally solid for the Packers to use for another 20-25 years but the stadium doesn't bring in enough revenue to keep for that long.The day that Lambeau Field closes will be a sad day for the Green Bay Packers. To hear a complete report from Bob Harlan go to Packers.com Packers Sign Chargers Guard 2/22/99 Raleigh McKenzie, formerly an offensive guard for the San Diego Chargers has signed a 4 year, $6 million deal with the Packers. The 14 year NFL veteran started at Guard for the Chargers last season. McKenzie could fill in for the loss of Adam Timmerman to the Rams this offseason. Email FLIGHT!
